Broke out my new hat. It is from Puppies & Golf. The organization raises funds for “No kill” shelters. All profits go to that cause. Amanda Balionis Renner from CBS Sports is championing the cause. My wife and only have adopted shelter dogs. Our current pup, Riley who turns 13 in July, was from a litter that the mom was rescued just prior to being put down. So No Kill Shelters have a place in my heart.

That’s a great cause, good looking hat too!! Two of my three dogs are from rescues as well.

Met a gentleman that lives on a really nice semi-private golf course about 20 minutes from me and he sells golf balls. He cleans, sorts them by brand & model, and then sells them by the dozen. He only had three individual TP5s so I picked those up for $2 for the three of them. ProV1/ProV1x are $1 each. He had five dozen so………..I bought them all. They all look almost brand new. A few of them have logos or player markings but not a single scuff or cut on any of them.  At $1 each, it won’t even cross my mind when I lose one.

Have fun with them! The Stealth irons are some of the best looking game improvement irons I've seen.

Ordered a CCE 3’x5’ mat from Costco to use with the SPG-8 XL test. To say it’s an upgrade of the mat I picked up from Dick’s Sporting Goods a few years ago (left) is an understatement of epic proportions.

Must be the season of the grip. I was not comfortable with the length of my driving iron so I opted to shorten the shaft by a 1/2 inch and will replace the grip with a Golf Pride MCC teams Navy/Orange to compliment the BB and F Co. ferrule.

Ordered some stuff to build for my father in-law. He currently has a beginner set of irons which is fine, but he needs something with lighter weight shafts. Ordered some Maltby M890 heads, a fat sole Maltby wedge, and some Maltby M890 graphite shafts.

Also ordered a Ping G410 Max driver for him, got a good deal on it. It will have an Alta soft regular but will probably put an even lighter shaft in it, probably a Fuji Air Speeder.

Usually we say everyone should get fitted, but he is the golfer that really is not good enough to get fitted. Our goal is for him to 1) make contact with the ball and not whiff and 2) the ball moves somewhere forward towards the hole, 3) hopefully he will be able to hit bunker shots himself (when he is in the bunker, i currently hit his bunker shot for him or toss it out lol).

his current beginner set is a bit on the heavy side and has steel shafts, so just want to get him something lighter with graphite shafts.

so i had purchased a maltby KE 4 max for myself and built it with a steelfiber i95CW R shaft. always been skeptical of maltby clubs but just hit it today in the backyard and was hitting it flush and i could tell with a straighter starting line than my Mizunos.

New shoes arrived yesterday. Four days later than expected but, better late than never. Anyways, Footjoy Fuels in white/black. I really wanted an all black version but was unwilling to spend another $30 for the all black BOAs. Who knows, maybe I’ll be so impressed that I have to splurge for the BOAs later on. I tossed in a new set of insoles last night and walked around the house a bit with them. Quite comfortable. These are my first spikeless shoes, looking forward to giving them a shot on course.

How's the overall feel? I'm considering building my dad a set of these. He's been loving the Sti2's with the MPF shafts that I built him last year so I'm hesitating building him another set.. but he could always use a little more help so that's why I'm interested in these.

feels good because i was hitting them flush haha. 

im not that great in discerning feel between different irons unless something is out of the ordinary. nothing out of the ordinary, which is a good thing to me. 

for me, i like that the iron can be swingweight adjusted via the toe weight. i typically adjust swingweight because i play irons shorter than length, and i prefer not to have to do it via tip weights especially in graphite shafts.

The 3 weights fit in the head and I’d like to cut it down from just over 45” right now but here is the quandary I hit it amazing this morning. I played my little 9-holer and drove the par 4 5th(316 yards uphill) as well as the par 4 6th(296 yards). I also ended up over the green off the tee on 5 the second go around. I had a nice little 7-10mph behind me so that helped. 
 

The 8* head set at D2 with the Ventus TR 5s shaft has been awesome once I figured out I needed to get longer tees. I think for the first time the top and bottom of my bag are set (TSI3/F85 3&5/Sik Jo) just need to figure out the irons. The 699 pros feel extraordinary but look a little clunky for my eye and I struggle to hit them with anything but a left flight. 
 

Might need to move the 699 pros with the Mavrik SZ and find some 790’s or 722’s

Ordered my usual shoe size and turns out I needed to order a size and a half down as they were huge. No Hyperflex Boa in that size so I've ordered the tour alpha boa instead. Also ordered a pair of laced tour alphas in the wrong size too so will have to return those. Ordered the correct size on those already.

Usually wear 11.5 but apparently I'm a 10 in FJ sizing lol

Uncertain if you gripped down or not, but one of the benefits of the Ventus shafts is the Velocore tip adds stability and helps with keeping ball strikes centered, so it may be that influences performance as well.

Adding the additional weights would get you increased MOI and higher swing weight too, even if you leave it at the current length.

Honestly, with the numbers you posted, kind of a good "problem:" to have.

I actually haven’t been choking down and have been seeing constant centerish contact. I can have a problem straying low heel to high toe when my swing is off.  It’s one of the reasons I’m not sure about messing with setup.  I will probably mess around with it tomorrow cuz I’m a tinkerer at heart lol
