Stingers incoming!  Going to give the U505 a shot. Went with the 1 iron??? 😬 Same build as the T200 3- and 4-irons that have been treating me well -- Graphite Design Tour AD IZ-95X shaft. Goal was to swap out the 3w (really struggling with FW woods lately...). The T200 3i is 20°, and my options were 16° or 18° in U505, or 17° T200 - since it's a 3w replacement that's mostly going to be used off the tee anyway, 16° felt like the right play.

Also picked up a handful of Golf Pride CPX grips -- my SuperSpeed grips started tearing up my hands, so wanted something soft for that, and just added a couple extra because I had some money left on a gift card. Used them for one session, and they are niiice, so I threw one on the U505 too. Maybe this will finally be the grip that gets me off the MCC (a few dollars cheaper than MCC too).

Very little wrist, elbow or shoulder pain this season, and that's even with beating 500+ balls per week in the winter off of a FiberBuilt mat.

... Aside from the performance benefits, graphite iron shafts have been a lifesaver for minor injuries or tendonitis from over use. I have to think it would help younger players avoid those types of injuries and for older players that know the body doesn't recover like it did in our youth, it is a no brainer. Unfortunately steel iron shafts have become almost as expensive as graphite or so close in cost the difference is negligible.

HUGE thanks to Cobra/Puma. I did own (still do) to these. I received them as a gift a while back. Love these shoes! Well after about 6 or so months, the left shoe developed a tear in the heel. Last week I decided to email Cobra just for kicks. I sent them pics of the tear and let them know that I didn't have a receipt due to them being a gift. I also let them know that if they couldn't do anything about it I'd totally understand.

Well being as awesome as they are, they sent me the updated shoe and told me to keep the other pair.

... While there are those out there trying to scam a company out of free stuff, the OEMs that understand excellent customer service develop customers for a lifetime become, as you said "my shoe loyalties definitely lie with Puma."  Long story short I owned a Camero and 1 week after the warranty expired, the heater started leaking a corrosive fluid onto my passenger floorboard and burned a hole through the carpet before I knew it was happening. An obvious manufacturing defect but they said it was out of warranty and therefore I had to pay for the repair. I contacted Chevy and received the same response. One F#@^%g week! I had looked at a rotary engine Mazda RX 7 and just to see how they would handle it, I called the Mazda dealer and said I had the same corrosion problem with my RX7 but it was out of warranty by a month. They said no problem, bring it in and we will take care of the repair with no charge because it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I sold the Camero and bought an RX7.

Safe to say my shoe loyalties definitely lie with Puma.

Previous are in the middle. They're practically new except for the tear which I was also able to find an adhesive patch for.

Thanks Cobra/Puma!!

Well that is interesting, I have worn through the heel on two pairs of similar Pumas over the last couple of years despite the shoes being in otherwise great shape still...I had moved on to try out the Truelinks shoes (love them), but cool to see they are providing that level of service even for soft goods.

In my single years, my roommate had an RX7. I drove a 4x4 so we'd always swap cars. What a fun ride! And kudos to Mazda for sure!

I had an issue with a cobra driver a few years back and it was no different. No back and forth, no haggling, no hassle at all. They sent me a driver head 2 years newer. Because of the way they handle business, there will forever be a space for a cobra club in my bag.

.. When I was a DJ in Chicago I took a job with an ex fellow employe in Ft Piece Fl for better wages, a 5 day work week and of course the ocean and warm weather. Got there and hated everything about it from the sleepy retirement community to the radio station. Worked one afternoon shift and turned around and drove back to Chicago. The RX7 was a ton of fun as I was in it several days and when I got back to Chicago just inside the city limits, I got a speeding ticket right where it drops from 65 to 55 and a speed trap. To his credit, the cop saw my car was packed with my stuff and when I told him I spent one day in FL and missed Chicago he said show up for court and he would make sure the ticket was thrown out. And he did. AS you know that rotary engine was so smooth it was easy to speed as it always felt like you weren't traveling that fast. Imagine I will have the same problem when my Genesis GV60 EV finally arrives going 0-60 in 4.8 seconds without a sound. 🤪

I had another friend years ago with an M3 who also would swap me for my truck. He had it all juiced up with a chip and other goodies. That thing was a whole other level of fast . For me anyway 😋

If I recall, it was a sub 4.5 0-60 with the aftermarket stuff. 6 speed manual that drove on rails. Talk about a butt puckering experience

Great cart. I have probably 1,000+ miles on it over four seasons and it's finally just starting to have a few minor issues. There's a support wire/cable that keeps the two wheel arms from opening beyond where they should and it finally snapped this year. Been meaning to fix it but it keeps on rolling.

Definitely recommend some dry silicone lubricant on some of the moving parts (at least the ones you don't touch), and also keep the screws tight on the bag holders. Mine were pretty loose at the beginning of the season and a gentle tightening of the screws fixed it right up.

I think it's cool your wife wants to get out and play and that you picked up this carry for her. I have the 11.5 v3 and absolutely love it, Caddytek makes a great push cart. I wish quite often that my wife would pick up the game, but I do enjoy those days she tags along. I hope y'all enjoy yourselves out there.

I don't know about everyone else, but my list of previous jobs is not nearly as interesting as you sir.

... Thanks, I do have quite a few interesting stories to share with my playing partners if they seem like good listeners. Sometimes I spend most of the round talking about my experiences and answering questions and other times it never comes up.

Me too

I was intrigued after watching a YouTube video from James Robinson golf. He shot it with Andy Sullivan from The Average Golfer. The did a great job of trying from a bunch of different positions. From as far out as 100 yards, 50 yards, and around the greens. Don’t let the title discourage you from watching. They feel “Big Mistake” Ping made was with the name. They think it will discourage golfers from putting it in the bag. Which club will this replace in your bag?

Ping ChipR

After your thread on what shots do we play around the green, I was wondering who in the thread would be looking at the ChipR.  I have to admit I am surprised!

Agreed.  I have to admit I don’t see the case for bagging this club, but I’ll be interested in the feedback.  @jlukes, why does that stick intrigue/appeal to you?

... You probably have a good short game. I think it is all about confidence. I am not going to hit a chipper any different than I will hit my 9 iron as well as preferring more options with different clubs depending on my lie and pin location. But I play with plenty of gofers that have little confidence in their chipping and pitching. While most are higher index players I have played with low index players that admit chipping is the weakest part of their game.

... It is hard to underestimate the confidence of a club designed for the sole purpose of chipping as opposed to a 9 iron that is built for full shots and I think that can allow any player to have a different approach. Even if the different approach would work with their 9 iron if executed in an identical way, they still may feel like "this chipper will make me a better chipper" and that is worth the price alone imo. I have already said even though I don't think it would ever make it into my bag, I would love to play a round or two with one just to see if my results are any different.

I didn’t want to jump in on this and be negative.  I did pickup a chipper maybe 15 years ago.  I was surprised I found one LH.  Used it for a better part of a year.  I really didn’t care for it, no better results than my 8 or 9 iron.  I think it’s one of those personal decision clubs.  Saying this we do have a couple of players here who play them and lovem.
