What Have You Bought Lately? (CHA - Club Ho's Anonymous)

Recently did an iron set purchase. The Callaway TCB set from 4-pw. I noticed the misses are no longer 10 yards but closer to six. The ability to flight the ball is still fairly easy despite how much the ball curves left or right. Definitely knew it was time to move away and upgrade from the from Cobra FlyZ Pros.

Cool...I was in NC as few years ago and they had just opened a location at a course near where we were staying but we were playing 36 a day so there was no time to try and schedule on then.   That's the cloests I have come.  But everytime they post on SM about a new location comng, I throw in a bid for Maryland..ha

I was lucky enough to be fit by Ian several years ago in Toronto (it's on their channel if you want a good laugh) and it was the first real truly provessional fitting I had, learned so much spending that 1/2 day with him  and Matt.

I think the title is Fittings are Just For Buying Clubs or something like that the date was June 2018 I believe)

Oh, I've seen your episode, trust me (I LOVE their fitting videos, and when I first found the channel, ran through nearly all of them) 😉  @GolfSpy_APHsent it to me, actually.  So great.  Ian would be a bucket-list type of thing - just watching him work with average golfers is a pretty exceptional thing - I kind of wish they'd do more stuff like that on their channel, instead of all the club-reviews, but...I get it.  Clicks are where it's at.

Here's hoping I get even half out of my fitting that you got out of yours!

image.png.08adfa58c950c5f63cb929a2aae627cd.pngMerry Christmas to me, from my wife (well, her aunties who always insist on buying me a present...twist my arm, why don't ya).

Full bag fitting (sans putter) at True Spec Beverly Hills (fancy shmancy), scheduled for January 6 - 50% off ($187.50) with code "BFCM50", in case you want to get in on the action.  They're also doing +15% on any gift cards, so for $165 (or so), you end up with a full bag fitting normally $375.  Killer deal.

Anyway - it's more for the experience than anything else, as I've never been fully fitted, and it'll be exciting to have that kind of day in a place like this.  I'll try my best to document as best as I can - this has been a dream for a while now, to get the whole experience, so hopefully I'm in good form that day.

Nice present!!  You will enjoy it, I'm sure.  I had one a few years ago at True Spec in Bend Oregon.  The fitter basically said that he couldn't put me into anything that would improve on what I already had.  I respect a fitter that doesn't push you into something you don't really need.  I did fall in love with a set of Mizunos; they felt so good and had a little better dispersion, but not enough to make me want to dump my irons and spend $1200.  Have fun!!!

I've never encountered a course that supplies you caddies. I'm honestly not sure I'd want one. That's like full serve gas, just seems to weird.

I can tell you that if you ever play any of the courses at Bandon Dunes, a caddie will save you a bunch of strokes.  It's expensive, but the experience is worth it and your score will be lower.

Something I will suggest with new clubs--- Experiment around with different balls--- Different clubs because of design etc react differently with different balls. Mostly these days I am a Srixon guy since I have won so many over the past 2 years mainly Q Star Tours. With the Tourist influx season going on now Bridgestone E-6s must be on sale because I have found like 4 or 5 yellow ones brand new in the last 2 weeks. On a whim I played 2 in last weeks shootout and they performed well for me. I used the same 2 balls in my rounds Tuesday and yesterday. Now I am not going to justify me going out and buying a dozen because I still have like 4 dozen Q Stars and like 4 dozen Soft Feels. They must have changed the E-6 quite a bit because I remember when those came out a Pro friend of mine gave me 2 sleeves and I hated them because I could not curve them and they seemed hard off the putter for me. These did not feel that way so they may have changed them

I've been finding Bridgestone white balls recently, I use different balls but I've not kept track of which ones are better for me. Still working on hitting consistent straightish shots, but need to look at what's the best ball soon...

A few years back I was a big Bridgestone Treo Soft fan. When I switched cars I found a dozen I won a couple of years back in a annual charity event. I threw 6 in the bag the other day along with 2 of the yellow E-6s I had found. Our course has a strong Srixon presence and I have won so many the last 2 years of so I have bunches. I have gotten used to Srixon balls. I played the 2 yellow E-6s Saturday in the shootout. Used those same 2 balls for rounds Tuesday and Wednesday. They are wearing well and I do not notice any more distance or spin compared to my usual Q Star or Q Star Tour. If we play the Shootout Saturday I will more than likely put 2 Treo Softs into play. I mess around on my practice rounds and play whatever premimun scuffed ball I grab from the shag bag. These days it does not really matter to me. If I were going to play serious comp or big money matches again it would be either Vice or Snell balls or maybe the Z-Star

This is awesome, thank you! I will for sure be asking as many questions as I can think of/they’ll allow 😉 I’ve been waiting on this moment for a while now - I’m nervous I’m going to annoy the cap out of my fitter, lol.

I’ve got a great excuse not to be worried about their prices, as I’m 100% unable to buy anything at this point, so my only goal is to find out what my best settings are for a future buy.

Although I was late and they ran out of the magnetic golf towels. I don't know if that's something that was really nice or not. That's a great deal.  However, I don't need that many balls!!  I'm sure the next generation (or the one after that) will be so much better, and I'd be stuck with a bunch of the old version!  😂

I changed the grip on my Ping putter, I bought a putter in a "OP shop" for $10 because it had a nice Pistol grip and I wanted to change the biggest jumbo grip that the last owner had on it. Not sure I'm staying with it but I'm not putting much worse, thinking about trying a LONG putter.

I’m a hacker who loves nothing more than to change how I play, be that grips shafts and heads its all fair game lol…

You are probably right, but I'm sure they would make an exception just for me.  😂  I bought 2 dozen of the Tour X in June just to give them a try.  I quit using them in November as the weather turned cold, and I have a dozen left... probably 60-70 rounds.  The Titleist Tour Soft in Yellow is my preferred winter ball.  I'll put the Maxfli back in play in late Feb or early Mar depending on the temp.  I might get some Tours to compare to the Tour X.

Heck at just over $2 a ball, play them year around....

The cost is not the issue.  I like the feel of the Tour Soft better when it's cold.  Don't get much spin when the greens are very firm anyway so have to play "run the ball onto the green"

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Okay, makes sense. It's the same reason I play pro v1s in the fall.

Hate yourself, not the game...

I know, they have $30 off on sqairez golf shoes right now too. I kinda want a pair of black ones but I can't really say that they've been that comfortable so I'm on the fence.
