I've had a love hate relationship with my 3 woods for a while now. I loved a tour edge exotics EX 8 that I had years ago, and I've hated the two PXGs I've had since. So a little late night eBaying has landed me a Taylormade Stealth 3+. Will I love it or will I hate it? I don't know, it's December in Iowa so I've got a bit of time before I can use it.

I recently sold my PXG's and built me a set of Srixon zx5 5-9i with steelfiber 70cw shafts, zx7 pw & gw with 105 gram true temper steel.

Traded my Callaway Rogue ls 3w for a Taylormade Stealth plus 3w. Traded my Callaway Rogue 5w for a Titleist TSR 5w, kept the Rogue 7w.

Reshafted my PXG Gen 5 with a Accra TZ6 proto 45 gram stiff flex shaft.

Pretty good bag shake up for the new year

I started having consistency issues with my fairway wood this past season, so I decided to "gift myself" an 18-degree Cleveland Launcher XL Halo hybrid for Christmas. Given the current weather is South Dakota, it won't get here by Christmas, but hopefully sometime next week.

Since I turned 70 this year, I value consistency far more than the marginal distance I gained with a fairway wood that put me in trouble, as often as not.

It's really weird being the same age as "old people" . . .

I've been the same age as some old people, for a while now. I just figured I wasn't "officially old" until I hit 70.

Update.. so the original pics posted were "borrowed" from a demo write up from 2011 when the clubs were released.

Here are the actual clubs that I received last night 

Overall I'd say 9/10 condition. Not bad at all for 12 yr old sticks and for $200 with KBS Tour FLT 110 shafts, I think I got a helluva deal! Definitely better shape than my Maltbys that I bought 2 years ago brand new. 

Now if I could just find the specs on these..

 

5 and 6 have an undercut cavity for a little bit of help.

I probably should have been more descriptive. I did find this but I'm questioning the accuracy of the lofts posted. 32° 7i seems very strong for player's-ish irons from 2011. I'm expecting to see more of a 34-35° range. 

I'm going to have them checked anyhow but just want to make sure I'm starting with the right #'s.

... Two things that have always bothered me about JDM's. Asia loves offset on their short irons and stronger lofts. US has caught up with stronger lofts but thankfully (other than Callaway) offset in Players short irons is still a no-no.

Thanks @chisagfor sharing! I just needed some confirmation that the lofts are indeed slightly jacked on these. 32° 7i isn't horrible but just not what I was expecting. My actual plan is to have them bent 2° weak as to help reduce the offset just a hair. 

TBH, the offset on these is much less dramatic than some of the others I've seen from the JDM. 

here are the Maltby VS TourStage PW's. I think it's the more rounded top and more flaring connection of the hosel to the blade that accentuates the offset. Very JDM esque..

My Mizuno MP32's aren't offset or if they are it's TINY, I can't see it and I hate offset clubs. I hit my Mizuno Widex 12* Driver which is offset just to see how badly I'd hit off the fw as I fade normally but the offset actually helped me with a tiny draw. Looks like I've found a fw wood for 2nd shot into par 5s and long par 3's...

My bag has worked well for me, but I have yet to find a suitable replacement for my 3 and 5 woods. Let me qualify, not a suitable replacement but rather a better performing club. The TaylorMade SLDR's have been in my bag since 2013. I'm a believer if it isn't broke don't try to fix it but they are going on 10 years old. They work just fine but shinney and new or newer are calling my name!

That is a crazy good deal on the Membership. You probably just have to pay a cart fee if you ride.

I walk so that's all I pay. But cart fees were $15 for 18 for members.

It is a beautiful course. It also hosts the NE Ohio Amateur every year.

But now I'm a little nervous. TN golf on public courses around my area averaged around $30.00 with cart. Now that I'm 40 minutes from Pinehurst. I don't know what the rates will be.
