Did you try it before you bought and did you see any improvements.   After hitting the 430s this year, I didn’t see any improvement over my 400 max.  If I was getting a new Ping, I would look toward the 425.  It’s loud but it seems to perform better for me,

Yes I did. I tried the G410 and G425 and didn't like the acoustics. The G430 has improved the sound considerably and sounds a lot like the G400. I was getting about 5-7 yards more carry with the G430 over my G400.

You made a smart move buying the Hy-wood. It’s a terrific club.
I struggle with FWs, but I’m stubborn as a mule so I keep trying to find clubs that work in that spot between my driver and 4H Nothing ever beats out the Hy-wood. I could (and probably should) just go D, Hy-w, 4h but I seem to be having some success with my 3HL… hopefully that continues. The Hy-wood is my go to though because how easy it is to hit from the turf.

An added benefit is the high ball flight you get. I’ve always loved hybrids, but I noticed as I got older my 18* or 19* 3H’s were going a nice distance, but I was hitting low screamers that ran out quite a bit. That was fine on a wide open hole, but it was a recipe for disaster when I needed to clear water or a waste area.
The Hy-wood seems to be the answer for me. I get a much higher flight with it than I do with both the 5W and a normal 3H.
As far as distance, I think it is just a little shorter than a well hit 5W, but your overall yardage with the Hy-wood should be much more consistent, and have less dispersion because of how easy it is to hit.

Same exact thing with me and my 7W. I finally got one a few weeks ago, and I like it, but I feel less stress standing over the Hy-wood.
Maybe I’m just not used to the 7W yet, but IMO the Hy-wood is just easier to hit.

The 48* that I recently acquired is REALLY nice. It performed great on Saturday- now if the player behind it could get it dialed in a little bit better(yes I know it does actually take time), I'm thinkin it's gonna be deadly.

Oh yeah, and switching from the LS and giving the Chrome Soft X a try probably didn't help. The LS' are a LOT more workable and have a lot more greenside spin than I was used to. But I also know that the Paradym irons are lower spin (for me) than the Apex' I'm playing now so, to me, it made sense to give the X's a try. I also found that the X's  aren't as forgiving as the LS'.

OK- I have a dilemma- The opportunity has presented itself to where I can get a new Driver(Paradym) or FW(Paradym).

I've been playing without a FW for a LONG time (except my UW). Do I really NEED a new driver? Probably not- but as well as I hit it at the fitters.... kinda makes me go 🤔? I don't really NEED a new FW either but......I haven't really missed having a "FW" because if I can't hit the green on the longer par 5s, I'm in a really good spot for one of my wedges to get me close. At the same time, with the distance gain I saw with the driver, that could get me closer from the start and .... you get the point. But it MIGHT be nice to reach them in 2 or get even closer. So- what's y'alls thoughts? (Kinda like that - "You have $1200 to spend conversation we've got goin on).

Thanks for any/all input

Unquestionably go with the four wood, spot on. I haven't had a 3 wood for years but I do have a five and seven wood.

With a 4 wood, correct shaft, and that new head you will love the results.

For me I’d want a 20% increase in distance and 20% improvement in dispersion, 4-5 wood is the only choice imho…

I recently bought two shafts to try in driver:  Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue 45-A at 44.5" pured from Dallas Golf (for an OttoPhlex test) and a duplicate used Fujikura Motore X F1 6-S to cut down and see what happens to dispersion.

Also took advantage of the first time customer discount and ordered a dozen OnCore Vero X1 balls to try after reading about them here!

Working at getting better ... and very slowly getting there.

Went back to an Epic Speed after playing around with a couple other drivers.  Got along well with the last one, but just had to satisfy the "itch".  Glad to be back.  She and I are getting along quite well.

Also picked up a couple Epic SuperHybrids.  Great performers!

Currently dealing on some different irons and putter.  If things happen, will complete a sig with the new line up.  Right now, stuck the 1985 Eye 2's in the bag and they are performing as well as they ever have over the years.  3 birds this morning and took $1.50 from the other old coots!!!  The "fancy pants" T300's I recently got are already down the road.  So, been switching between the Eye 2's and my set of BeCu Eye 2+'s.

Not really what have I bought lately, but won a shaft giveaway on Instagram and just got in the mail a PX HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX 60 6.0. Going to have it built up hopefully this weekend and then compare it against my current driver gamer which is the Tensei AV Raw White. Both are low launch low spin shafts, so in my head they will perform similarly, but the PX is counterbalanced so should have a bit of a different feel. Looking forward to seeing how it works!

Finally got these beauties in yesterday, and now can't wait for the season. Went Ping Glide 4.0 50/54/58 all two flat, with the wide sole on the 54 with 14 bounce and thin sole 6 bounce on the 58. Feeling this will give some versatility around the greens and tried to base it a bit on the online fit from Vokey, which suggested a more full bounce 54 and then more versatility with the low bounce 58 with toe and heel relief. Most excited for better gapping, as the Hogans was a 52 bent to 51 but I felt it creeped back to 52 and in testing recently I had about a 20 to 23 yard gap, so the 50 should close that nicely. Finally, have to go with the Pings as I play almost always in the morning sweeping the dew, so the hydro pearl finish is a game changer for retaining spin.

Went to my local PGA superstore on Sunday to compare my old irons to something else. On the launch monitors I was hitting the Tour Edge C722s the best, they were barely better than Callaway's 2021 Apex model and a decent bit better than other sets $700-$1000. Based on my previous club testing I am slightly biased against Callaway, so I ended up getting the C722s but it is possible I will return them in exchange for the Callaways. I will probably create another post with pictures if I end up getting the Callaways. Also, it would be my first time putting a Callaway club in the bag.

Based on my previous club testing I am slightly biased against Callaway, so I ended up getting the C722s but I will likely return them in exchange for the Callaways. Below are a few stats from the launch monitors and opinions created from a 9 hole test round:

  • C722 7 iron spins less at 5000rpm vs 6000rpm from my current 7 iron. This causes more roll out from the ball than I would like.
  • C722 7 iron has 27.5 degrees of loft vs my current 7 at 33 degrees. Creating a considerably lower flight while adding more distance.
  • I usually hit my current 7 iron 165-180 yards depending on if I hit soft or "full". The C722 7 iron was favoring the 170-180 side of that range.
  • The thicker sole C722 is harder to hit off of dry dormant rough grass here in AZ.
  • The C722s don't sound or fell as good as my current irons. It was hard to tell sound and feel in the store so I don't know about sound or feel compared to the Callaways,

I will probably create another post with pictures if I end up getting the Callaways. Also, it would be my first time putting a Callaway club in the bag.

What shafts do you have in the C722’s?

I have KBS graphite in my E722’s and I’m getting a nice high ball flight along with really good distance.

What shafts do you have in the C722’s?

I have KBS graphite in my E722’s and I’m getting a nice high ball flight along with really good distance.

@ArizonaLoganCome to the DARK side (notice my signature-I'm ever so SLIGHTLY biased)- 🙃. I really like my Apex' but they're going on the sale block in the morning.

True Temper Elevate 95 steel stiff.  I don't usually opt for different shafts other than the factory options.
