What Have You Bought Lately? (CHA - Club Ho's Anonymous)

I just ordered the X5 Shot Scope stealth black today.... moving away from Garmin S62 watch which has been great but it only picks up approx 80% of the shots (I didn't mind not knowing the specific club because I could always recall what I hit and knowing those total distances has been very helpful).  I tried Arccos sensors a while back and it seemed like they still needed to iron out a few things - I found myself paying waaaay too much attn to Arccos vs Golf.

The X5 was a borderline impulse purchase but that front screen showing hole/par, current score along with second screen/hazard distances front & back was enough to see that they put a lot of thought into this + at $299 including sensors and no ongoing subscription it seemed like a steal!  The one thing I love about the Garmin S62 is the battery life as I get full week plus of regular watch usage and can get at least 2 rounds of golf on the watch before recharge.  

From what I can see the X5 watch can get at least 2 rounds of golf in but can anyone comment on how many days of battery life they get with no golf?  I would imagine that is got to be close to a week (that's the assumption that I made when I bought this AM - they got me with their email about certain colors already running out of stock).   Either way the battery life has to crush the apple watch so I'll be fine with it!

Correct, at least at this point in time.

That's intriguing. Arccos didn't seem worth it to me as I don't think I play enough for the monthly cost but one time cost that gives distances and can track some stats is something I will have to consider.

ShotScope is definitely the way to go if you aren't looking for another subscription service. I have been using the V3 watch and tags for the past two seasons and love the stats it tracks and I now don't have any delusions about how far I hit each club. The ability to review your round and the decisions you made can really help you improve your course management and shot selection. I just pulled the trigger on upgrading to the X5 since it looks nicer, has a touchscreen and the ability to place the pin.

Recently just purchased 2 new Callaway Jaws Raw Wedges, 52 and 56 degree S Grind 10 Bounce. True Temper Dynamic Gold Spinner 115 Shafts. Always been a Callaway Wedge player, cant wait to try these out!

Sub70 JB 52* wedge. Just ordered the ShotScope X5, with hopes that it doesn’t miss as many shots as the V3 I tried.

Not clubs, but the weekend sale at RockBottomGolf has me thinking about buying the peripherals to my golf game I had wanted but kept putting off.

I want a stand bag to carry 10 clubs on a windy day to the range/par 60. My old driver head is sitting with no shaft. I'm getting down to using some pretty ugly balls with tree scuffs. And finally I've wanted Arccos sensors for more than a year now. To accomplish all those things for $238 seems frugal.

They have a weekend closeout worth checking out, everything Snake Eyes price drop, cheap shoes, range finders, bags and sales on drivers and wedges from what I scanned.

I have a shopping cart now in the back of my mind.

they charge a yearly fee so paying for the sensors to me was not something  I was going to do

Finally gripped my next brand new club and gave it some time at the simulator. A Titleist SM9 54* S-Grind with a C-Taper R+ Shaft. Comparing it to my old 54, a SM8 S-Grind but with a Hi-Rev 2.0 S the new club is absolutely fantastic and does exactly what it was designed to do versus the SM8 Less Spin and Low Flight. As well has feeling very similar to my iron shafts (KBS CTL Stiff) I feel my swing is going to be much more constant this year and will help me get my goal of Single Digit Handicap.

 

Last (Hopefully) Purchase will be a new 58 degree still on the fence between the M and T Grind. ...Maybe I will just have to get both.

Got fitted for a new driver yesterday.

It came down to the Paradym X and TSr2, with the TSr2 just edging out the Paradym in distance and dispersion.

Should have it in about 2 weeks.



Dropped down a shaft flex to 5.5 as it seems I've lost 5mph club head speed in the last 5 years.

I'm now on the lookout for a flex down set of .355 tip iron shafts, but I think I may be able to do a straight swap with someone I know that has the same irons, same shafts but one flex down as he's looking to go one flex up.

Been a while since I posted here and I’m getting withdrawals lol. I picked up a superstroke 2.0PT grip. They didn’t have the black/white one so I had to settle for the red/white one. I really liked the 1.0PT but it was a little small and building up Superstroke grips too much tends to be a hassle

Re-gripped the clubs with Pure combo grips. Got a used PXG 0317 Gen2 22 degree hybrid and Tour Egde Exotics EXS Ti-Utility 17 degree. And what I am most excited about Srixon ZX7 MK2 driver. With the trade in deal on the driver and the used clubs I reworked the top of my bag for $540. Planing on posting some quick reviews on them after I get a little more time with them.

I just grabbed my first hybrid since the original Cleveland Halo in 2004. I picked up a slick TSi2 18° Hybrid with HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX Hexcel shaft for only $180 CAD. The technology leap from the halo to the TSi2 is bananas. Very different clubs but so nice to hit.

I was open to any brand that would provide optimum performance and the HD came out on top for me. The Cobra AeroJet Max was a few yards longer and it felt really good off the face however the HD was ordered.

Excited for the stand bag to bring to the range, color coordinated with the Callaway pullover. The Oakley hoodie I got matches my running shoes perfectly. 48 Vice ball mix for about $1 each will keep me outfitted for the rest of the year likely.

... I am guessing you also hit the NX Red Speeder? Both Fujikura's are just outstanding stock shafts.

Added the new Titleist TS2 7w. Replaced my four hybrid with it. Increased my decent angle by 7*! And have more yardage flexibility with it.

Yea the Ventus Red TR worked best for me.  It looks like Nelly Korda picked up a Stealth 2 HD too!

Well finally did it.  Ordered a PXG 0311XF GEN 5 25* hybrid an hour ago.   
Been sniffing around the PXG 0211 15* hybrid but when I went to order they were gone, LH I guess sold out quickly at $139.   Still the 0311XF @ $189 isn’t bad.  We’ll see if it can outperform the Cally Steelhead 5 hy.

Got fitted at club champion a couple weeks ago and got advice to replace just about my entire bag of clubs (I know, sales tactic); however, everything in my bag had a R Flex shaft and my 6i swing speed is up to ~95mph so he advised I get X-Stiff everything. Bought a Tensei 1k white shaft for my Rogue MAX LS 9* and then went on to the rest..

Bought New Balance leather training shoes on eBay 8.5 eee wide $35 about $90 NZ delivered including shipping and Tax, super comfortable and about a third of the cost here. Apparently they have some blemish that I can’t see but new in a box, I’m going to use a new inner sole for extra comfort when just practicing. Excellent bargain

Just pulled the trigger on a Jaws Full Toe Black Wedge 64*- not sure I NEED it but CPO made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I got a discount for my birthday, and I used some saved up Rewards Points, so I basically got it for 75% off.  I had one before and it was really handy around the greens and out to about 50 yards.

I’ve had my eye on sub 70 this year. You’ll have to let me know what you think of them once you get some holes under their belt!
