My wife just told me that something golf related came in the mail for me today and I haven't a clue of what it is that I bought. I got banged up a few nights when I was at the beach so hoping I made a good choice.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say its a putter.

 

Lets be honest, I may as well be standing on a sequoya.

Turns out it was one of the Cameron putting disks from one of this year's releases that one of my buddies from Philly sent to me. I did not buy anything that I don't remember or regret so that is a good sign.

 

No shot my wife knew it was anything golf related, but she assumes that anything that comes in a package is so she got lucky.

I am feeling fine, just bought a lot of stuff this year so I am trying to be more selective in my purchases.  My wife also asked he same thing when I turned down buying a Betti Tour Stock last weekend.

Traded an old Oban Devotion 6 that I had laying around for it so no loss for me there since I have two or three more of them in the house. Maybe I will throw a tip on it and give it a shot in my 3 wood since I really like the Diamana D+ that I have in the driver right now.

On Monday I received a Cobra Baffler Trail 5 Hybrid (25*) that i got from 3BallsGolf off ebay.  I got to try it out yesterday in place of my 5 iron.....hit it 3 timrs, once out of a fairway bunker and twice out of the rough......the ball got up terrifically every time with good distance.

 

I like it and will use it for awhile until I get back into gear with my 5 iron.

Me and my buddy just bought a couple of new FlyZ hybrids off amazon.  Brand new, green heads (matches my driver) for $50.  They were senior flex, but I had a Tour Green that I was about to put in a 913HD.  Right after we bought them they jumped back up to $100+.

Yes sir!  I love those Tour Green's in hybrids.

The Aldila Tour series is just a solid line. I have the Blue in two Adams DHYs, the green in a 3 wood and hybrid and a red in another hybrid. Very smooth shaft with just the right amount of kick for me.

Bit the bullet and ordered a set of Gmax irons.  Yellow dot. 4 - PW probaly will have them in a week.  Kind of excited about it.  Pictures to follow then!

Oh I know Jbil! My ego is still giving me grief about it.  The evidence speaks for itself though.  My ball striking is improving again and the extra distance, oh the extra distance   I forget who said it but we can all use some extra forgiveness.  Might have to look at my handle though <_ maybe predator or something fearsome src="%7B___base_url___%7D/uploads/emoticons/default_laugh.png" alt=":lol:">

 

Oh and I'm keeping the 54's just in case!

I played some decent golf with my 54s at the beginning of the year. I switched from my 54s back to my G25s around June I think, thinking that if I was posting 80s and 81s then maybe the added forgiveness of the G25s would get me over the hump. For whatever reason, I didn't hit any more greens with the G25s and my scores actually started going up. A few weeks ago I had my S55s bent down to standard and have been playing them since and broke 80 with them twice so I guess I'll be sticking with them for a while. Part of the problem for me is probably that I enjoy playing different clubs and don't give myself a chance to get fully adjusted.

Had some shop credit that was going to expire so I used it on a Callaway Mack Daddy 2 Tour Grind 60* that I promptly bent to 62* and threw it in the bag. Has to be more useful than the 4 iron that I had in there for decoration.

Should have went with the PM grind. You'd never look back.

I had the PM grind and was not a huge fan at all. Prefer the look of the MD2 slate wedges over anything in the last few years.

I can't really say I bought this "lately," since I actually ordered it at the PGA Merchandise Show, but they weren't in production and delivered it during the Paderson shaft evaluation, so it's been sitting around for awhile.

 

I took the Knuth Golf High Heat driver out to the range a couple of times, along with my Titleist/Paderson combo but I wasn't controlling it well right off the bat, so I set it aside until last week when I took it out to the range again and spent a little time with it.

 

Maybe it was the lessons I took a few weeks ago, but this time around I was hitting it pretty well, so I took both drivers to the course today and since it was close to empty this morning I was able to alternate drivers.

 

So far I'm rather impressed, as I was hitting more fairways and distance seems to be comparable, and sometimes longer, than I was with my regular setup.

 

Unfortunately, I only have one day I can play (weather permitting) until next week but I'm going to spend some more time with the High Heat driver over the next few weeks and it might just go in the bag!

Got to play a round last night with the High Heat and I probably won't be making a full review with the stock setup after all.  I usually drive the ball as long as, or longer, than the friend I was playing with and I thought the lower launch and more boring flight of the High Heat would work well in the high winds we had.  The ground was still damp from some heavy rains a few nights ago, so there wasn't much roll-out.

 

As it turned out, he was longer than me off the tee pretty consistently last night.  Plus I was tending to pull my drives,  and some were just plain old duck hooks...  With the moist fairways, it was obvious I wasn't getting the carry distance with the High Heat, that I get with the Titleist/Paderson setup I've been gaming this season.  Even with the loft of the Titleist set at 9.75* and the High Heat (non-adjustable) at 10.5*, I get a much lower launch with the High Heat and after comparing the shaft specs I can see why!  I really should have purchased the 12* High Heat, since it's paired with the Fujikura Pro 63 which is MUCH lower loft and spin than either the Paderson or the Fujikura EXS shafts I've got in my Titleist heads!

 

As I mentioned before, the High Heat is VERY straight but I have to setup a bit differently than I normally do because of the "draw bias" offset of the High Heat.  For the right person, the offset and ball flight will work VERY well.  I just think I'll be better off pulling the Pro 63 shaft and pairing it with my higher lofted 913 D2 head and saving the High Heat head for a later tryout with a different shaft.

 

There's just not enough playing time left this season to set my current driver aside and really put the time in with another driver experiment

Sometimes I think getting the right driver/shaft combination are pure luck unless you find a fitter that will put the time in with you and try a big variety of shaft options.  At the end of the day the head is the head and the shaft seems to be where the rubber meets the road.  I find the whole process very hit and miss or should I say that has been my experience.

I totally agree with you MizzyPingLover.....I aquired a Callaway FT with the Project X shaft and loved the flight that it produced.  I then put the same tyle shaft into a PowerBilt and it was great.  I now have the Project X shaft is two sets of irons (Cobra Bio Cell & Mizuno JPX 800 Pro).  I also have it in my Cobra Bio Cell driver. So I guess I have found the graphite shaft that fits my swing......Project X.

I am not so sure that it really matter that much for me.  I have tried many club/shaft combos, and given a little time to get used to them I think they all would work.  Obviously, an L flex and an X flex will have different results, but changing shafts within a certain range of flex, kick-point isn't going to instantly give me 20 yards.  However, I still keep searching for that one anyway.
