Popular Post chisag 11,840
... After my full bag club fitting I made a few changes. I bought a SIM Max 10.5* head and found a Diamana Limited 55 R Flex shaft on eBay I paired with it. Yesterday was my first round and due to 45+ mph winds I can't make any comparisons to my Cobra Xtreme as far as performance. I hit a 330 yd drive with the wind at my back and considering I usually drive the ball in the 240-260 range I think we can safely say that was an outlier LOL. I was very reluctant to try a R Flex shaft in my driver as my S Flex seems to work well on the course. But I had zero issues with dispersion and actually hit some of the most accurate drives of the season only missing 3 out of 11 fairways where I used driver. And the 3 I missed were just a little off. So I am really looking forward to playing this combo in normal conditions. I also installed an Even Flow Blue 85 hy R Flex shaft (tipped 1/2") in my UDi 2 iron and with that silly wind hit 2 shots longer than my normal driver on those holes. ... Also playing it at 44.75" I had to add some lead tape inside and around the stock weight to get it to D1 so I just bought an aftermarket 25gm weight to replace the stock 18gm weight and that should get me to my preferred swing weight of D1. I am also a little surprised by the sound/feel of the SIM Max that is very dense and muted reminding me of my GBB Epic using 2 weights. I have picked up another SIM adaptor from Golfworks and will install it on my Tensei Orange S Flex, my go to shaft and see if the performance is better than my R Flex Diamana. I have to admit at age 67, a lighter and softer flex shaft sounds like something I can appreciate if it continues to work for me. I was a little shocked to see no ballooning into that strong wind yesterday, something I was expecting with a softer and lighter flex. 11 Quote Driver: TaylorMade SIM Max ... chisag 11,840
..,. I just wanted to add that many are chasing nirvana numbers with their drivers searching for that high launch low spin combo. And if you have the club head speed it is certainly a worthwhile goal but more than a few, especially older players are not generating enough spin with their drivers. My fitting was producing around 1800-1900 spin and at around 95 mph that is not enough to maximize my distance. I will say I have never felt like I can swing indoors like I do on the course and the yardages bore this out with my normal 160yd 7 iron consistently registering 145-147, but some patterns were undeniable. Dropping to a R Flex with a softer tip with the SIM Max compared to my lower spin Xtreme, I got my spin numbers up top 2400 and was carrying the ball 15-20 yds longer with equal role out. ... So I would advise everyone to know their swing tendencies before trying out a new low spin head or low spin shaft when you may actually need the opposite. We obviously have some young studs on MGS that do need less spin so of course there is no one size fits all and as many here advise, if you have not been fit, it would be in your best interest to do so. 7 Quote Driver: TaylorMade SIM Max ... Its a bit surprising but makes sense. There are the “WRX” folks that hit everything over 300 yards carry that need a rebar shaft to lower spin LOL, but that is a small proportion of total golfers. Then there are the heel slicers that need less spin i guess. Then there is everyone else who can probably use a bit more spin because we dont have tour level swing speeds. For me, i picked high launch/high spin iron shafts to help me get both launch and spin up. Driver i still need to get that figured out, but i tend to launch low and spin too low (high toe miss), resulting in drives that get out there from roll on a dry day but not so far when the fairway is wet. 1 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Current tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 12/27/2020 Driver: TSi 2 - Graphite Design AD-XC 6S Hybrids: SIM Max 3H, 4H - Matrix Ozik 85S Irons: ZX5 5 - PW - Nippon Modus 120 S Wedges: CBX 2 54, CBX Full Face 58 - KBS Hi-Rev S Putter: ER2

Good point. Even is high swing speed guys need to adapt to the new equipment. I am playing my PXG 0811x at 10.5* compared to the 9* I played in my TS3 and Epic Flash SZ. One thing that it does that I am having trouble incorporating is that when you remove it from tripod you can set it against putter face to check alignment. My issue is that it is hard to set putter head, keep it there and then move laser to face 5 Quote SIM 9.5* (GD XC 6X) SIM 15* (GD DI 7X) 2 DHY (GD DI HY8X) ZX7 4-PW (KBS C Taper S) Vokey SM8 49 08 F ( KBS 610) Vokey SM8 55 08 M (KBS 610) Vokey SM8 59 04 L (KBS 610) Studio Stock 28 Slotback 33.5" Tour BX Twitter @THEZIPR23 "One thing Golf has taught me, is that my muscles have no memory." Have had a great experience with the driver I got early in the year so I'm going for the gen 2 irons now. Never thought I'd be a PXG guy , but the prices are good, and where I'm at it's the only way to get a real fitting done.
