Not a purchase but I did acquire this gem of a putter. I know next to nothing about it other than it is a copper 8802 style that I am darn sure I can’t putt with. Still nice one to have around to roll on the indoor putting green.

I remember Black Lab putters.  Company evolved from another small putter matter, 350 putter I believe it was.

I have a putter that looks very similar to that one. It is also an 8802-style putter made of copper but it has a milled face, and it was a pre-Golfsmith Snake Eyes model.

I bought some Karma undersized grips and they arrived so I put one on my 6 iron, because the shaft is ladies and felt small I put 1 wrap for my left/top hand and 3 wraps right hand. The 3rd wrap I started a 1/2 inch further down to make it easier to get the grip on, glad I made a lucky guess with it because it was a tight fit and difficult to slide on even though I used extra liquid (WD40) and it's played ok

I’m a hacker who loves nothing more than to change how I play, be that grips shafts and heads its all fair game lol…

Picked them up today after work. Brand new still in the wrapper. Except the 7-iron that I hit the other day. It’s always a special feeling taking the wrappers off new clubs.

I almost broke down and bought a ZX5 LS off WRX and I still might. Local guys say he hopes to have his in hand next week to demo otherwise I would have already sent PayPal lol. F5E5F624-6362-4976-A915-2D2B6E081802.jpeg

Yeah it’s last years model. I couldn’t resist brand new for $750 vs $1100ish for the MKII.
I have played the Modus 105s shafts before and like them well enough. The 7-iron with the modus was point and shoot when I hit them so I’ll give them a fair shot. I also have some Tour Issue XP95’s laying around that will get shot #2 if the modus fails.

I've got Modus 105s in my Sims currently, with no real complaints. However, the R+ Project X IOs were a delight to swing - I'd probably go that direction with the Sub 70 699 Pro V2s were I to upgrade today. (I may keep the 105s just to... Just in case? 🙂 )

Congrats again - awesome purchase.

99% sure these are the irons he's talking about. I think he said he's thinking about the driver, hasn't decided yet. @GolfSpy_BNG any chance you'd toy with an Otto Phlex option in the driver (should you pull the trigger)?

I have played the PX I/O’s earlier last year and they are great shafts. I actually prefer those to the modus or LZ’s tbh but they aren’t cheap to source shaft only normally.

@Bang60 as for the “Ottoflex” not sure I’m necessarily the target golfer for this or the autoflexx. I have hit the real autoflex a few times and I spin it crazy high and it goes left a mile. I currently game a BGT Brava shaft in my Ping G430 LST and don’t have too many complaints. I had planned on doing a short comparison review between the 2 but after a few swings it was apparent than the comparison would only be about 2 paragraphs.

TBH if I do pull the trigger on the Srixon or any other driver(again), I’m gonna go the exact opposite of the bgt. Going to go stiffer feeling with a Hzrdus Hulk PVD 60 6.0 for a fun comparison.

I swapped my grips to MCC4 Plus, nothing special, but I went to midsize for the first time. Holy smokes that is a game changer. I really had no idea grip size made a difference. The confidence you get in those to swing for the fence is wonderful! Might have paired it to a new HZRDUS Smoke Black too 😎 and bought a shot Scope V3 so can't wait for that!

Recent pickups:

  • Srixon ZX Utility - 20 degrees - picked one up while they were on sale prior to new releases. My Titleist 712U has seen better days, and was due for a lie/loft adjust & re-grip anyhow. Stayed with steel (as I had in the 712U)
  • Full set of Lamkin Crossline Midsize grips - I had been dabbling last year trying to get rid of stubborn hand/wrist pain. Had played standard Lamkin Crosslines almost my whole adult life - but came to the conclusion that my grip pressure was way too high and as a result started hurting my hands. A few rounds with a random half set with midsizes resulted in significantly less pain and discomfort.  Pulled the trigger on a full st for my gamers over the Holidays

The MCC grips are amazing! I accidentally bought one that I put on my old lob wedge and liked it, but the Mizuno's came with them and I am loving them. I need to replace the ones on my driver, fairways, and wedges. Just haven't done it yet.

I am so stunned just holding them. I did play the same grips on my irons for 19 years so anything would feel good, but they are buttery smooth yet soooogl grippy. Do you change your own grips?

I haven't taken up the hobby of changing grips, but I hope to learn to do so one day. I want to set up a station in the upstairs bedroom once we can get the house rearranged and start doing it.

They really do feel so good in your hands.

First post here in a minute: and it’s a bias-busting one. After my Vegas trip last week I had wondered if the 2iron deserved an every-round spot in the bag. After some extensive testing at my favorite golf shop in Vegas, a TM club is in! Stealth 5 wood with a smoke RDX shaft.

I couldnt track down the weight of my old grips from Cleveland but IIRC they are lamkin crosslines so I believe the difference was 11g static weight. I went and swung them today for the first time and I couldn't make any glaring difference. They felt stronger. I also never had my swing weights done before I did it either so nothing to compare other than feel.
