Well this got delivered on Monday, however since I have been in the Dallas area for the last week I was not able to see it until today. She is even more gorgeous in person, which I didn’t think would happen as it is the last of the 4 SM9’s I have got this year. Ordered Monday, shipped direct from the factory in Illinois on Wednesday. Arrived in Los Angeles today. Nice attention to detail. Perfectly aligned logo down on both shafts and grips. It's nice to see things put together well. The clubs are beautiful too. Nice compact head. Weighting feels great even though they're a bit lighter than I prefer at D3. Took a few practice swings in the back yard and hit a foam ball at my rear block wall. Can't wait to really hit them, but surely its a good sign to see the foam ball bounce straight back at me? Going to try to sneak out early tomorrow and wedge a session in before I pick up my brother and his family from the airport. I have been looking for something to fill my 5 wood/2 hybrid slot in the bag and took some swings with a tour edge exotics at my local shop. Felt great and had more forgiveness that I was expecting. IndyBonzo
I quickly determined that the lack of taper in the GP CP2 grips is not for me, so I just ordered some Iomic Evolution midsize replacements for 4-9i. I like a little less taper than standard grips, but have never tried parallel grips. I use wraps of Blue Painters tape in a progression. Starting on the shaft at the bottom of the grip, I place one layer of tape up about the first 1/4, then a piece of tape starting at the same place that goes up on the shaft about 1/2 the grip, then another piece of tape starting at the same place that goes to the top of the shaft, then the 4th piece of tape that extends past the end of the shaft so I can tuck it into the end of the shaft. The 4 layers give me the right grip size with a slightly reduced taper.
