This is the last hat I picked up

That's a sharp hat, too! I've been wanting a rope hat for a while but my massive head rules a lot of hats out. Ping and Puma/Cobra have the flexfit with snapback style that I love.

That’s why I went with this green Ping hat. There was another but it didn’t have the flex band in it. I’m usually in between 2 of the peg but the flex crushes that bug!

How about a Cleveland Chipper. Tried it and the Ping Chipper. For me the Cleveland was easier to hit but not by much. Used it yesterday in my first round of the year and Shazam it worked quit well when around the green and specifically within 20 yards of the green. The key is too slide the club with a putting like stroke. Do not try to pick it!

Well the final club purchase has finally been made for the start of this season *knock on wood* decided to go with the M-Grind over the T-Grind for the near term as it is what I am use to with my current SM8. However I do see the possibility for getting the T later with more testing of it.

IMG_0275.jpeg.55ab3d8c3f03bce6de81c9f55a77f21c.jpeg

Well this got delivered on Monday, however since I have been in the Dallas area for the last week I was not able to see it until today. She is even more gorgeous in person, which I didn’t think would happen as it is the last of the 4 SM9’s I have got this year.

The most exciting part is my courses finally opened up while I was gone, so gonna get this baby gripped after work and put all my new purchases to the test.

They've arrived.  Big props to PGA superstore and Tour Edge.  Ordered Monday, shipped direct from the factory in Illinois on Wednesday.  Arrived in Los Angeles today.

Nice attention to detail.   Perfectly aligned logo down on both shafts and grips.  It's nice to see things put together well.  The clubs are beautiful too.  Nice compact head.  Weighting feels great even though they're a bit lighter than I prefer at D3.  Took a few practice swings in the back yard and hit a foam ball at my rear block wall.  Can't wait to really hit them, but surely its a good sign to see the foam  ball bounce straight back at me?   Going to try to sneak out early tomorrow and wedge a session in before I pick up my brother and his family from the airport.

I’ve been considering the Srixon drivers and unfortunately Golfetail sent an email yesterday with the ZX5 10.5° Riptide 6.0 brand new for $180. I couldn’t pass it up, so on top of new irons, I have a driver coming now.

Will report back if the Mrs makes me sleep in my truck after it delivers. 😅

I quickly determined that the lack of taper in the GP CP2 grips is not for me, so I just ordered some Iomic Evolution midsize replacements for 4-9i.  I have never tried the Iomic grips before.   But based on recommendations of Iomic I have read here, it seems to be worth a shot (as always, pun intended).

Working at getting better ... and very slowly getting there.

I like a little less taper than standard grips, but have never tried parallel grips.  I use wraps of Blue Painters tape in a progression.  Starting on the shaft at the bottom of the grip, I place one layer of tape up about the first 1/4, then a piece of tape starting at the same place that goes up on the shaft about 1/2 the grip, then another piece of tape starting at the same place that goes to the top of the shaft, then the 4th piece of tape that extends past the end of the shaft so I can tuck it into the end of the shaft.  The 4 layers give me the right grip size with a slightly reduced taper.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

For all the club hoes out there I could use your opinion. Hopefully the quality is good enough to see but did I really just crack my new driver on the first go? If so has anyone dealt with Cobra on warranty matters?

For all the club hoes out there I could use your opinion. Hopefully the quality is good enough to see but did I really just crack my new driver on the first go? If so has anyone dealt with Cobra on warranty matters?

I think it’s a scratch as well. Probably brushed the ground and hit some sand. I would also think you would hear a difference in sound after if it was cracked

Thanks to all for the feedback and putting me at ease. I’ll have someone look at it just in case but I am definitely way less worried about a brand new club.

I bet you played hockey at some point in your life!  I could never have enough tape for my son's stick.  😉

LOL.  Nope.  No hockey when I was growing up in wet Oregon in the 1950-60's.  I need midsize grips but I like a little less taper under my right hand.  I experimented with different amounts of buildup tape and came up with this approach.  Using air to put grips on and take them off made changing grips easy.

I didn’t think I would like less taper under the lower hand until I tried the MCC +4 Midsize and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. I might experiment a little with another piece on the lower half to make basically a +5 but for now I found great success with these current grips.

Reach out to Cobra they’re said to be very good in regards to situations like this!

I’ve got a bad reeling about this

Cool, here's the link to the thread. Even if you can't make this one, I'll be scheduling more meets throughout the season.

Agree with Matt, doesn’t seem to be a crack but with a new club get it looked at.   Cobra like most of the OEM are great about replacements.
