Took two weeks to get it, but it’s here! Got it with the Tensei blue, and ordered the shaft separately. Since Callaway still charges $350 for the upgrade didn’t make sense to get it without a stock shaft. Anyway looking forward to hitting it on the course tomorrow, and get a shot tracer on it with the Callaway white box balls, and then write my final review.

It’s probably a good thing that I love my Titleist driver because that new AI-Smoke is a nice looking driver. I should go hit one just to see if I like for more than just looks.

Will be curious to see how they hold up compared to “normal” grips. Might even have to do a review mid season.

I’m not OCD but I was struggling to pull the trigger for the very reason. But then I decided to just have fun with my driver and wedges. Everything else will match though. Couldn’t handle having 13 different grips, lol

I just bought a new wedge. I played a 60° wedge since well into the last century. About 18 months ago, I bought a Hi Toe 58°. However, it’s time to replace it. I didn’t love the sole itself but found that 58° was better than 60°.

Previously, I had Mizuno ES21 54 & 60. The ES21 is perhaps the best wedge no one plays. It’s hollow towards the hosel side to give it better balance. I wanted a 58° but with more bounce. So I bought a new-in-plastic ES21 58° wide sole 12° bounce. For $75 delivered. Since the are not popular, they are cheap.

Oh man. I played with old Taylormade MC/MB combos until November of last year. I had been interested in making the switch to Titleist simply because I had recently swapped to the Vokey wedges and loved them. My fitter and I tried the t150, t100, but I finally landed on the 620 cb w/ TT DG x100 and sm9 wedges with s400.

Then, I went out to a Titleist fitting event out in Gulf Shores Alabama to tackle Driver and woods earlier this month and got fitted into TSR4 with TSR2 fairways, surprisingly with all stock shaft options even though I was open to aftermarket. Those gorgeous things came in last night, and, I must say, I'm a little disappointed in the unboxing experience. It was very subpar for a premium product. I am excited to go play with them my next day off though.

Also picked up a new Bettinardi Studio Stock 14 putter that I absolutely love. The sound off the face is incredible and really helps my distance control so far.

What was the issue with the unboxing experience?

In a large part, probably my expectations. All three clubs were just in a club box with minimal protection, headcovers just kind of tossed in there. With the lack of packing material in there, I almost expected damage but all is good with world. It was disappointing and underwhelming as everything else with my fitting experience and all was world class, so I expected the same level of care in shipping. Opening a box containing $1500 worth of clubs, your first thought shouldn't be, "man, I hope these aren't broken."

Ah damn that's a shame. The anticipation and excitement of unboxing new clubs when they finally arrive is a huge part of the experience imo. As long as they work on the course though, that's all that matters in the end

That’s a totally understandable and relatable feeling for me. I have had a club show up with plastic wrap but no other packing before, thankfully no damage. It was not my Mizunos though, they were actually packed very well. I wonder if they’ve changed their packaging over the last couple years.

It's the last step in their customer experience before the clubs are in play, so for it to degrade the rest of the experience seems like a big miss on their part...

I also recently purchased a new pair of Payntr spiked shoes (X006) to be my second pair and which will eventually replace my UA Speith2 shoes that have served me very well, but are now starting to wear.

Check these beauties out.  I got these on sale from Golftown here in Toronto, Canada in January.  They feel so comfortable on and I can't wait for the courses here in Canada to open in April to try them out.

Man, I'm super curious about these shoes, but I don't have the greatest track record ordering shoes online. Are they carried at any retailers?

I purchased these Payntr shoes at a golf retail chain here in Canada called Golftown.  I believe retailers like the PGA Superstore in the USA carry the brand.  I found they fit relatively true to size, i.e., I'm usually a 10-10.5 in most shoe brands and the 10.5 Payntr fits me very well, with just enough space for comfort.

After hassling the Callaway rep the last time I saw him at the range for a sleeve of balls to test first, I'm now locked and loaded for the '24 season with new balls. Great feel off the face, and good stopping power even on short chips around the green. Saw a small increase in ball speed across the board, and decent increase specifically on my driver shots vs the old model Chrome Soft balls. I reckon Callaway finally has a real competitor to the Pro V1 here

Nice, I regularly have to play in windy conditions and really rated the old chrome soft x was a good fit for my game, pretty much tried most of the other leading brands, still got a few dozen new ones to get through but will definitely be getting some of these in the near future.

Just ordered the Callaway Corando V2 SL shoes to replace my Oakleys. First venture into spikeless. I would've preferred the version in black but I'm a clearance hunter so gave to style with what's available. Was also considering the Adidas S2G spikeless that were on sale for 50% off on Amazon but it wasn't clear if they were water resistant. I was able to get the Callaways for about 40% off.

I bought this gorgeous driver head cover from Aliexpress for £28 (approx $35). It is an old Swag design that you cannot buy anymore so I feel less bad about it being a copy. The quality is really good for the price and I am extremely happy with it.

There are some great headcover products on Aliexpress but what do members think about the price/copyright debate?

Still on the hunt for shoes, I decided to try TRUE Linkswear that I've had my eye on for awhile. Taking advantage of their Second Chance Program to get a pair of True Lux Tours 43% off. Per their sizing and measurement recommendations I actually went with 9.5s. Pretty impressed that they come with a shoe bag/towel, and no obvious blemishes/issues. Heel feels snug and well supported, so just need to go try them out this weekend!

These shoes were a success by the way! No more heel blisters while walking, and the grip is as good or better than Codechaos.

Definitely recommend checking out True’s Second Chance offerings if you were ever interested in trying them.
