So true about the fakes looking so much like the OEM.  Unfortunately,  I bought a fake club with what I thought was a premium shaft.  The shaft broke after 3 months.   I wont buy a used club now unless it is by an OEM like Callaway pre-owed if I want to buy one.

On the other side of the coin,  are OEM charging  more because they know that we will buy new clubs at the price they are selling them at?  For me I dont buy new drivers anymore, i wait about two years and hope I can find one at the aforementioned vendor.

Callaway Pre owned is maybe the best source for used, and occasionally great price on new old stock.  I bot a new 3 or 4 yr vintage 3 wood for $80 a few yrs ago.  Pre inflation.

#1  PXG 0211 10.5 deg, Evnflo Riptide CB A flex.

3W: Callaway Steelhead Xr A flex, 5W Callaway Paradigm reg , 7W Titleist TSi 1 reg.

Driving Iron: Mizuno MP 18 MMC Fli-Hi 3i 18 degree, Recoil 95 reg flex.

4H: Honma 737 U 22.

5H: Mizuno JPX Fli-Hi wave tech.

Irons: 6 - PW: Ping I 500, on Recoil Smacwrap ES 760, reg flex.

Wedges: Mizuno S5 (50 deg),  Miz S5 (54 deg), Mizu ES 21, (58 deg).

Putter: Odyssey Versa 12, red Stroke Lab shaft.🙃💘

I agree on this.  They are probably one of the best places for used and they are always having additional sales.

WELLLLL I tried TEMU for the first time so we shall see how this goes.... Knockoff L.A.B. Mezz

Plan is to check the lie angle, weights, and placement of them. Would be cool if I could find a Revealer to throw it in to see the results. Will post when it arrives! Pretty excited honestly

Well as far as copies knockoff clubs etc imho as I’m a poor pensioner so I buy used clubs, 😧 20 years ago I bought a copy callaway 9iron and it was absolute rubbish so I’ve not bought anything else until this week 🤞 my wife buys lots on temu and I bought some plastic T’s plus gloves and a kick scooter $79 so when it arrives if it’s useable I’ll be surprised and will tell you 🤪 bought the scooter because I’ve seen this old guy riding around on a kick push scooter and he said it’s good exercise so I want to try one without spending much money 💰

I’m a hacker who loves nothing more than to change how I play, be that grips shafts and heads its all fair game lol…

I know what you mean, but also, how many putter companies are using Karsten Solheim's Anser design? All of them I think. Interesting how that is fully acceptable. Fang, the #9, 8802 wide blade anser....all are kinda clones passed around the industry. I certainly dont support counterfits that are trying to trick people but if they dont steal the other company's name, I dont see an issue with similar designs that differentiate themselves and use a different company name.

... Ping let their patent expire so the Anser was fair game. But letting common sense be our guide, there is almost always a difference between a legit manufacturer making a product similar to others as well as their own unique designs and a company just making a copy of a successful product without any research or unique products of their own. So a legit OEM making a similar putter with just a few tweaks to differentiate it from the "original" is just capitalism. But when a company most of us have never heard of makes a product as similar as possible to the original hoping someone may be trying to trick people into thinking it is the original OR trick them into thinking it is just as good as the original at a much cheaper cost I think most of us would call that a difference.

... If someone copies say my EvnRoll putter in shape only and without the face roll technology or the strategically placed and different size weights (shown below) most everything about that putter can be vastly inferior from the metal used to the weighting and weight distribution as well as the balance. While there are plenty of over priced products that may or may not be worth the price, I do think in the end with not just inexpensive but cheap copies, you get what you pay for.

I did drop a joke on this earlier, but came back to put in my actual opinion -- looks like some have already shared similar things. LAB is not the first company to make a center-shafted mallet. They're also not the first (I don't think?) to make a center-shafted fang-style mallet. Same with the Link - back in the early 00s, I had a Sub30 that was in that exact style, with their proprietary face insert (and no weights on the bottom). Maybe the DF is a different story with design, but Mezz and Link "style" is somewhat fair game to copy and make cheap. Even the more "mainstream" brands have done this type of stuff in the past -- at least "back in my day" (I'm 40 now, I can say it), you could walk into a golf store, and you had the big expensive brands on one end, and on the other you had the less popular, cheaper brands that offered products that looked incredibly similar (then there were the even cheaper no-name brands that were clearly copies with different names -- but they were available off-the-rack at legit retailers. It reminds me of Golfsmith's club building catalog, which had quite a few options that were strikingly similar to mainstream models, but you knew they were not the real thing). From some quick searches, Tour Model is a good example of this (and I think one of the brands I remember seeing all over the place).

I don't support clubs like this and would never buy one, and do expect them to be inferior in terms of performance, but also don't care as much that there's some company selling what's clearly just a "cheap looks like" model rather than trying to dupe someone into thinking they got the real thing. This one is clear with both the logo and the face (LAB doesn't change the face color). Someone that's watching you set up to a putt might think you have a LAB, but the buyer would (or at least should) know that this is not real, so I don't see much of an issue with it (personally, I'd never buy it or use it, and would prefer these things didn't exist, but as long as it's clear, it's fine).

Where I start to disagree completely is a two different areas, but neither of them apply here:

  • Counterfeits. If it was a direct copy with logos and everything, trying to dupe someone into thinking they bought the real thing, that's a problem. This comes up on eBay, and is a reason I steer clear of sites like eBay and Amazon when trying to buy golf gear (was burned by fake Golf Pride grips on eBay one time, confirmed by a rep at Golf Pride; on Amazon, once got a Callaway Apparel rain jacket that had some red flags, but it was around the time that Callaway Apparel changed ownership and actually shipped in from Europe, so couldn't confirm whether it was real or find any archived designs to compare - might have been a legit EU release). Something I really appreciate about a company like Golf Pride and Graphite Design is that they know this is an issue for them, and they post examples of what to watch for: https://www.golfpride.com/blog/counterfeit-grips-how-to-identify-avoid-them/   and   https://proschoicegolfshafts.com/counterfeit-shaft-warning-2/
  • Patents. If they are actually copying patented technology and not just looks, that's a problem. It might not be a problem for Temu producing them in China, but I just don't agree with it as a golfer, and it becomes more of a problem selling it in the US market. But...LAB doesn't have patents on the Mezz. Their patents are on an elliptical grip and a self-balancing putter. The Mezz design appears to be fair game. https://labgolf.com/pages/patents

I don’t understand what you are trying to do.  I am guessing that it is a demo club with an adapter to switch shafts.   IF you have the adapter why not just install the new shaft in the adapter?   If you want to remove the adapter or don’t have it my guess is that the hosel has been bored out and won’t fit a standard shaft without some kind of shim.  Photos would be helpful

I’ve been filming my range sessions lately but through the rapsodo app and it is a HUGE pain to export the video without the rapsodo info all over the screen. The only way I’ve been able to get decent videos is to screen record so I don’t see my numbers and part of the frame cut off.
I’m thinking I’m going to have to start filming either the entire session outside the rapsodo app somehow or just get my old phone and record (which would be super weird since I have to use my current phone in conjunction with the rapsodo)

I’ve been thinking about doing this. I have a tripod and my Apple phone is really good at filming. I bought the tripod from Walmart pretty cheap. It’s also a selfie stick. @Puente37 and I may start doing this in sim sessions this winter. I think it would be fun. He’s left handed and I’m right handed so that would be cool. Next season I want to add this type content to my articles. That would be cool I think.

I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.

My iron headcovers came in.

Obvious but decent feeling faux leather with a subtle colour-shift on the large print numbers.

They are a lot bigger than I thought they would be, but they are light, and skinny, so they shouldn't create too much clutter in the bag.

They are also magnetic closure vs. Velcro, although the magnets leave a lot to be desired.

They do fit nice a snug, so even with weak magnets they should stay in place.

For $26 Canadian I have no complaints.

Ok looking at the photo you can see the adapter in the hosel which I want to remove and fit a shaft, I can see the hosel is bored out for the adapter but I’m hoping that once removed I can fit a shaft using a Shim 🤞 I’ve used shims before but not with such big hole but as this shaft is left hand if I stuff it and it finishes in the bin I don’t care 🤷 it an experiment that I’m trying because I can’t buy the adapters 😧

I’d guess it is epoxied in the hosel.  Going to have to GW edge something in there, heat the hosel and pull the adapter.  Kind of like pulling a shaft that broke off below the end of the hosel.

Yeah agree with epoxy, I’m hoping I’ve got big screw I can try to grab the adapter in that bottom cavity heat and draw it out 🤞 if the weather is fine tomorrow I’ll give it a shot. Wish me luck 🍀

Sorry missed this before, I bought Demo irons because I wanted to try different Mizuno heads and it’s the most efficient way of using one shaft with multiple heads. Plus it’s cheaper this way using one shaft with 6-7 heads, I’d hoped I could find the Mizuno iron adapters but so far not much luck except I’ve got 3 different heads and only one shaft but I’ll keep looking 👀
