What Have You Bought Lately? (CHA - Club Ho's Anonymous)

Recommended Posts

Probably should have posted this in the right spot… instead of the “thinking about” thread.

While looking at used TSR3s, found these lightly used Vokey Wedges.  So I had to get them.

The Vokeys are the SM9 52 12F and one you can only be found in Asia, the Forged Vokey in a 56 10M.  The Forged 2021 Vokey is pretty sweet.  It usually sells new at a good premium to the SM9.  I didn’t realize that Vokeys are normally just cast and then milled.

These look hardly used which is hard to believe. Both together was less than one new Vokey SM 9.

The SM9 comes with a Nippon NS Pro 950 neo stiff shaft which is lighter than a stock DG S200 on the Vokey Forged. Never seen the Nippon shaft on a Vokey before.  Now need to put on some MCC Plus 4s before I can put them in the bag.

Idk if "bought" so much as "paid to have shipped" applies here. My demo Stealth 4h didn't come with a little hat, but luckily I remembered $40 site credit sitting from signing up for golfpass. Got this nifty cover that matches my color scheme and added a Stratus soft glove bc I wanted to try them vs. Callaway X tech. Landed at $40.98 minus the $40 credit means I paid $9.98. I could've gotten free shipping but didn't feel like signing up for text notifications from TM.

My demo of Sub70 699 Pro v2's showed up yesterday! The packaging of the clubs was outstanding and the clubs arrived in great condition -- especially considering these are their demo clubs. I am excited to go to the range and play a few rounds with these.

For demos, Sub70 sends you a 6 iron and a 9 iron for roughly $20 after you send them their clubs back. One thing that surprised me when comparing them to my current set (Ping Eye2) are the stronger lofts. I didn't expect the exact same lofts but expected them to be close. Based on my online research and my own rough measurements, the 6 iron is more like a 4.5 iron and the 9 iron is more like a 7.5 iron. Long term, I don't think this will make much of a difference, but it will shift what clubs in my bag I use as direct comparisons to the demo clubs.

I think this is an awesome deal that sub70 has. Sure, they may lose a few clubs but 20 bucks to demo a couple clubs on your own in all types of conditions (vs on a mat into a screen in a golf shop) is great.

have fun with the sticks!

Dad came home from Florida with an Epic Speed driver w/ Cypher forty shaft, says it gains 20y on his Ping G25 which is now in the garage tempting me to add a 3rd driver to the mix and have a good old fashioned shootout.

He also got a precision pro nx9 slope rangefinder and a 60° jaws md5.

I'm still trying to get him to register on MGS, but for now he's just an honorary club ho.

I think of this stuff as "What I don't have to buy, just wait for him to pick up something new and hand it down."
