New putter showed up yesterday, and pics of driver that showed up about a week ago, both from Callaway Pre-Owned.

I picked up another Ping putter just like my gamer in great condition. Not to my specs that was fitted by Ping HQ, but the price was right.  My putter is 34" Green Dot; this putter is 38" Black Dot.  Thinking about modifying for armlock stroke.

CPO might be the most underrated golf club reseller. I've ordered all sorts of things from them and the condition is always better than expected. Their customer service is also very good - especially if you're on the fence about something. The reps know their stuff and can help out.

The Ping Sigma G Doon putter is already counterbalanced.  It's what sold me on it 5 years ago.

Have been pretty impressed so far with condition and price, I don't think either club had been used. Definitely beats the conditions of the used stuff I was seeing at my local Golf Galaxy.

came into some money so I went to buy a 5 wood. Only ones in stock were a Callaway Paradyme and a TM stealth (wonder why that is?). Tried them both- Callaway felt just a little lighter and easier to swing so took that one (@ $389!!!!). So far I am loving it and definately hitting more consistently then my 3 wood.

I had been playing with a fairly large gap in my bag between my 5 iron (26*) which carries about 185-190 and then my super hot 3Hybrid (18*) which carries about 225. So I was looking for a 21-23* option that would carry about 200-205. I wasn't in a huge hurry because I don't run into that shot too often but I was only carrying 12 clubs so I had room for it. Anyway, fast forward to I am in my local golf shop and I was looking at their used clubs and they had a Callaway Apex UT 21* driving iron with the exact same shaft as my irons. It was in great condition and was being sold for $35 . I went to the owner of the shop who I know really well and I was like, "what's wrong with this club??" He said the guy that brought it in just wanted it sold and had no use for it and that it had just come in that morning. I snapped that thing up and through 3 rounds (honeymoon period) it has been MONEY. Amazing luck so far.

Only story better than a great shot or round of golf is a bargain, nice.

That's a steal! One thing I miss about living in a bigger city is that it is hard to find a deal on used clubs here!

I picked up a Bloodline Vale off of ebay last week.  It got delivered yesterday, so I went home for lunch so I would have it for league last night.  9 holes in and I don't hate it, my lag putting was solid, everything started on my intended line, and I actually drained a 25 footer to boot.

I live in rural Alabama, tell me about it. I recently broke down and bought a Value rated used Stealth 3 High Loft 3 wood off flea bay because a course I play often including a monthly scramble has some holes to short for my driver from the geezer tees and at least 3 holes with dog legs I might cut over the top of trees IF we have a solid ball in play lol. The Value rated club was from global golf and and came with a brand new head cover still in bag and looked barely played, I will give them my business on used clubs on fleabay based on the generous grading alone.

I bought a great set of 1986 Wilson Tour Bloc persimmons, 1/3/5 with R400 TT DG shafts. I'm enjoying stripping them down and refinishing for play in our Persimmon Revival Open at the end of next month.

The irons in play are 1974 Wilson Dynapowers with the adjustable weight ports towards the toe, great hitting irons. Dynas won more Majors than any club before or since, can't be beat.

So…this happened.

As mentioned in the what equipment are you thinking about thread, I went to demo the Callaway Paradym TD fairway woods. I liked what I saw on the trackman, so I decided to pull the trigger. 
 

Now for the best part of the story. I had brought along my Mizuno JPX 923 HMP irons that I don’t play anymore. I asked what the trade in would be, hoping to offset some of the $700.00 these woods were going to run me. The helpful sales associate at Golf Galaxy tells me that Callaway is running a promotion that doubles the trade in value of 1 item towards the purchase of new Callaway club/clubs. So that means the $469 I was getting for the Mizunos became $938.
 

So on the way to the register I grabbed 2 midsize GP +4s, a dozen TP-5, and a palm glove. All said and done, I left the store with all that, 2 new fairway woods, and an $82 gift card.

Latest purchases: (preface by saying I am used only guy)  don't make money playing golf, so like to keep the expense down to about 20-40% of new and spend the balance on playing etc.

 

While looking for a new wedge with a bit more bounce I happened into a market with booths of all types with my wife.  About to purchase an old Cleveland or two with high bounce, when I found the cheaters special - SMARTSOLE.   I consider myself a solid short gamer, and have to say although I never thought I would, I love it and have yet to find a shot it doesn't work for.  Preconceived notions and prevailing wisdom haven't matched my experience with it.  Cost - $15 condition - excellent ...... results?  Well I have a Ping Glide 2.0, Cleveland RTX-4 and CG15 sitting on the bench and unlikely to get minutes soon.

 

Now ...... since the mid 90s I have used Ping Zing 2 with the exception of a brief stint with a 2-ball (weeks) and a season or so with Anser 3 (same slant neck and finish as the Zing2) .......

Came across a post or two on here about Bobby Grace putters and went with the LoPro (in the Zing2 general styling) and find it to be excellent.  Can't say it is better than the Zing2 for me, but it also shows at worst fractional signs of being less effective (chalk it up to familiarity so far).   Cost - $35 - excellent condition with solid results.  In bag for now with old standby ready at any time.

Also - giving an Adams 3w a spin with more solid results than anticipated to this point.  It stays in the bag if the chips are on the line - but casual play it has performed well so far.  Cost - $30 - good shape, promising results.

I tend to agree MattF, but that  is how they are able to take clubs in trade and then hope to resell. Similar to trading in a used car, get wholesale dollars so they can resell at retail.

Sometimes it is better to try and sell them on your own to limit the losses.

While I agree with you in principle, trade-in values are always skewed toward the retailer, in this particular case before taxes the irons cost 962.50, so getting 938 was about as close as I’ll ever get to receiving full value. But yes, they are all definitely thieving bastards.
