Building a new workshop... Finally

Finally got some assembly going. Rained all day yesterday after I spent most of the day Saturday cleaning the garage out, moving everything and vacuuming up all dust. I busted my butt to cut everything and start assembling when I got home at 5:30. The bending machine stand isn't mounted just unpacked it. Machine should be here tomorrow (stand was all that came lol).

 

 

Now to get the cross members on the 8 foot section and to get breadboard put on after I put in the shaft rack at the end of the 4 foot section (that's the one that's done).

I like what you're doing and I need to spend some time out in my garage. I already have a nice work bench it's just cluttered up with crap. You're doing a nice job Rookie. I'll be looking forward to seeing how you finish up with you equipment and everything. I'll probably steal some of your ideas. I need to install a vise for one. What type of vise do you use? Do you have a grip station?

After cussing the drill, anchors and everything in the garage out, I got the Mitchell machine in place... Don't mind the mess... Different tools I've been using during the build

Next comes bead board to finish after installing the shaft rack. I'm also going to put the compressor under the bench, use a hole saw to punch a hole in the work top and just have a hose reel mounted visibly. That was it's nice and clean...

The vice is a 6' Wilton with an anvil section on it. I don't use solvent and tape so I don't need a grip station. I blow all my grips on

I haven't had a lot of time to work on it lately.  I'm actually at my dayjob right now.  I did buy a 3rd attempt at something to use for shaft holders yesterday.  I'll try to update the thread soon.

Somebody once told me that they used pool cue holders... Always thought that'd be a nice cheap alternative.

I actually bought several pieces of 4" PVC I'm going to try to use. We'll see how that goes when I have time to work on it again. I built arack and tore it out because I hated it

Golfworks have club holders that mount to the front of a bench, but they are backordered at the moment.

I just need a space to store spare shafts (I have plenty) and new shafts I have to try out. It's not 2 or 3 shafts, it's a few sets of iron shafts and around 20 graphite shafts or more

I built a 3rd shaft rack... And it didn't fit in the hole (guess I should've measured the frame for the front, ha). Other than that, I've been working 7/12's at work (7 days a week, 12 hours a day) for a few weeks now so I haven't done much of anything but work, eat and sleep. I built that shaft rack and it didn't fit and I said F it and quit for that day.

 

I come off that Friday and go on 4/10's next week M-Thurs so I'll have time to do a little something around the house.

Love it!!! I've dne re grips a few times and put a few shafts in (the boys had a laugh at me a couple years ago looking at my sloppy/lazy work)

 

With baby here, I'm digging in... Spent $190 at harbor freight today... Bench vice, grinding polishing wheel, lots of small bits.... Friend donated a belt sander/disc sander combo.

 

Will start another thread to share progress as that comes together!!

 

In the meantime. Share more!! Need inspiration
