Braun and Wessner Concept 3L

So I finally got a reply after a month and a half from them. This putter is the one Zalbert has and they were going to release it supposedly. In their response I got today, they are... In a limited run of 10 putters. And they're going to be $999 (why not say $1000). But hey, at least you get your choice of Best Grips grip put on it (according to Phillip Braun). A grand for a putter very few people have seen or heard of... At least they're from the same area in Germany that my wife's family is in.

Best putter I've ever putted. After the ketsch won the MW mallet test last year, I seriously contemplated acquiring one, but it didn't even sniff the 3L.

No. It's milled aluminum with tungsten perimeter weights. They mill it on a 6 axis mill (according to the response I got) which they said takes longer (6 axis is designed to shorten runs on a CNC, not lengthen them and it's overkill when a 5 axis does the same thing). Then he said they do a zero degree treatment on them. And the laser etching.

I've talked with someone that makes putters for a living and that person told me they are upselling what other people already do. There are 6 tungsten perimeter weights, all in pockets under a badge. Their concept sketches are on one of their pages that shows every bit of the design. Aircraft aluminum is cheap and tungsten can get expensive but not in that quantity. I suppose if the high moi design works for you then it could be the greatest thing since sliced bread. The putter maker I mention above though thinks they'll end up in a box in a warehouse at that price.

actually we do not run it on a six axis mill to increase running time but to decrease running time!

the design of the Concept3L is simply so unique that it takes almost 3 hours to mill the head out of aluminum which is not the classic 6061 aircraft aluminum but another aluminum alloy that allows us to mill and use the zero degree hardanodizing and still have the ability to laser the face in our special way. The Tungsten we use is totally pure and in order to work with this stuff we have to use special machines.. we simply didn´t want to use an alloy that is not 100% Tungsten and give up some weight on the perimeters.

Of course it´s not the material only that we use that makes the higher costs for us.. it´s the mixture of technologies we use to create this Putter! We don´t produce in China or some other place..we are german engineers and have partners that are in fact true specialists in what they do here..working for two of the known car producers in Stuttgart area. We made no compromises at all and therefore we are not upselling anything..we make putters for the love of the game and not for making money. That´s also the reason why we didn´t launch the putter some years ago but have waited to create the perfection we wanted to have.

The Concept3L is also made to fit to your putting game and we are able to offer the Putter in 2, 3 or 4 degree loft and we do also the lie and length adjustments to your needs. We have made a limited production series of 10 Putters (and of course we made a couple of them for ourselves;) but that´s it for now. The Concept3L also has rules confirmation from the USGA and also from the R&A of St. Andrews.
