I like the Callaway XHOT too.  The face is shallower than the newer ones and to my eye, it looks good behind the ball.

I've tried a ton of hybrids and the best I've hit to date are...

 

1) Tour Edge Exotics CB Pro U

2) Tour Edg Exotics EX9

3) Bridgestone J15H

In my experience from a perfect lie I can hit a wide variety of hybrids with almost identical results.

 

When the lie is less than ideal head design suddenly means everything.

 

For digging the ball out the rough, I agree with Orange Hog that it doesn't get much better than the Bridgestone J15.

 

Determine what you are specifically trying to improve (i.e. elevated trajectory, advancing from rough, MOI forgiveness) and then narrow your selection down to clubs that share design characteristics intended to address your specific scenario.

 

Just my two cents of course and there is obviously no substitute for loving the way it looks at address.

Wilson FG Tours are very easy to hit. Thicker sole for some forgiveness but easy to get up in the air and still workable.

I've just played with the Ping G 19° Hybrid 3 for the first time and was pretty impressed by it!

Love my Adams Blue Hybrid, but I play off 20 so need all the help I can get! Most Adams hybrids were great to hit tho

I hit the Ping Crossover yesterday, I prefer my 712u. But it was a great club. Really hot off the face, nice mid ball flight. A bit chunky for my liking.

I have a UDI and for some reason the chunkiness psychs me out. I'm not a bad ball striker, and for some reason I have just never hit it consistently.

Cobra F6.....for sure!

 

But you may want to try out the Cobra F6 Baffler 4W   16*-19* adjustable.  I have one and it's a beast.

I also have an F6 baffler (same lofts as above). I love it. It's just a really easy club to hit and the rails handle tricky lies like nobody's business. It's my "relax, you can't hit this bad" club.
