They look incredible. I am a 1 handicap, and have gotten a lot more time to play / practice this year. I have been able to maintain a 1 by playing about twice a month the last couple years, and this year, I will be playing 2-3 times a week. I am hoping to improve by 3 or 4 strokes by the end of the year. Hogan is a legend in the game of golf, and had one of the best swings in history. His reputation should be kept the same when it comes to the equipment and other gear with his name on it. I would be honored to be a part of that tradition. I hope you pick me! bigphil
Handicap is a 4 Hogan to me means American Beauty and Excellence in golf irons. I know when I pick up a set of Hogan irons, what I can expect from them. Quality craftsmanship and engineering that not only looks great, but performs great as well. I collect Hogan irons, and I have sets from the 70's, 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Each set represents classic beauty. From the classic Hogan black and red striped ferrules, to the trademark logo on the heads and grips. Am I partial to Hogans. Absolutely. I have hit a lot of forged irons over the past 10 years and its hard to beat the feel, performance and forgiveness of Hogan irons from 15 years ago. When you've got it, you've just got it. I'd love to try the latest offering, especially to see how they perform with Hogans from the past. PS. Preferred swingweight is D4.
seanmrivers
The HoganFit experience is a great tool when looking to find the best setup for their new line of irons and wedges. The design team took a great approach on making the online fitting experience as simple as possible which is great to see. Handicap: 5 - It is great to see Hogan return to the world of golf with their new line of forged irons. This is good for golf to see revivals of companies like Hogan in the marketplace. jongalt55
I went on to the hogan website and went through the HoganFit process. Very easy process to complete. My only misgivings come from the fact that I have always been physically fit to my iron specs in a green-grass location where my pro and I can both observe the ball flight and adjust accordingly. If the process can accurately translate the information from my prior fittings to a "prescription" for new irons, it's pretty slick. My HoganFit prescription was as follows: I'm currently an 8.6 handicap (tranding to a 7.4 next revision). Playing good golf right now. As for the Hogan name, it brings back good memories. I learned to play the game using a beat up set of Hogan Apex Edge irons. To me, the Hogan name has always meant a set of beautiful, well made clubs. They've never been the easiest clubs to hit, but when you put in the work with them, they've always rewarded good swings with a feel and ballflight that is exactly what you expected. If the new version of Hogan can live up to that standard, it will be a very worthy product indeed. dru_
I have always loved the fit ides that SCOR applied to the business, and the extension of that to the full HoganFit experience remains, in my opinion, one of the best tools for the golfer that is willing to analyze their game to that level, to get something, relatively 'off the shelf'. I would go a step further and note that I also love the departure rom the traditional 6i nomenclature in favor of the actual loft. Of more interest is that I have recently had enough change in fitness, that my old irons are clearly no longer the correct fit, though they have played well enough that my 19+ index is back into the 14's and trending back down again. I would absolutely love the chance to test the Hogan's as they are already on my short list of sticks to workout with this summer. Anyways: Handicap: 14.3 ( though the proper answer is 'the grey stuff between my ears' that is my real handicap at this game ) HoganFit: See Attached What Hogan Means to Me: Growing up being a guy that knew a little about golf but didn't actively 'follow' the game, there are only a handful of names that I grew up knowing in Golf, the legends, Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicholas, etc, but Ben Hogan was always one of those legendary players, but more importantly, his equipment reflected his playing style. It was precise, well crafted and well honed to the job at hand. Today's Hogan's may not come from the same owners, but in many ways reflect the spiritual successor. What Koehler did with SCOR, and is now trying to do with the Hogan branding is simply the most natural transition of Hogan's legacy with a modern reflection on his ideals. Will o'the Glen
Here is my “Hogan Fit†prescription: KBS Tour 90 Stiff Length and Lie standard Grips Ben Hogan Peformance Plus +1 Irons to wedges 22 ° to 60° in 4° increments I currently play to a 24.9 GHIN, which isn't impressing anyone, but that is more indicative of the fact that I came to the game of golf late in life, and the inconsistency which comes from not playing often enough, than a lack of basic skills. I found the Hogan Fit process interesting, but I'm afraid that I wouldn't plunk down $1600 for a set of irons and wedges without a real, live, in-person fitting. My prescription reflects some changes which I made to their “prescriptionâ€, most notably dialing back to a 60° wedge from a 62°, and adjusting the rest for 4° gaps. I find the very idea of a wedge with a higher loft than 60° ludicrous – I can open the face on my current 60°, a Hogan SureFit, and play it as high as I need to. I am a mechanical engineer with 34 years of experience and an understanding of the physical principles which govern the interaction of a golf club and golf ball, and I am also a credentialed golf writer/blogger in my own right. I have some experience with testing and reviewing golf equipment, and in fact, I currently am in (temporary) possession of a three-club demo set of the new Hogan irons, consisting of a 27° (≈5 iron), 39°(≈ 8 iron) and 51° (GW), for which I ponied up $29.95 for return shipping in return for a month of testing time. So far I am very pleased with what I have seen from these clubs. I got interested in the game of golf through the writing of Dan Jenkins, who is, of course, the most famous Hoganista of them all. Reading Jenkins' work over the years has imbued me with a deep respect for the Hogan approach to the game – precision shotmaking and intelligent course management are the goals of my journey through the game of golf. I currently play the Bridgestone J40 Dual-Pocket Cavity Back irons with Project X 5.0 Rifle Flighted Shafts, but before that I was playing Hogan Apex Plus irons with Hogan Flex 4 shafts (whichI occasionally put them back in my bag), and I got my start in the game with the Hogan Edge CFT irons and hybrids, followed by a set of Hogan BH-5 irons. I have used other online fitting tools before (such as the Ping nFlight software) but this is by far an easier process with much more accurate results. I'm very impressed with what Hogan has done Ben Hogan. Arguably one of the most recognizable names in golf. The pioneer of the 1 iron. He accomplished so much throughout his career. The Hogan brand shows this extremely well. Classic is probably the best word I could use to describe this iconic name and brand. I cant tell you how excited I was to see these new Ft. Worth 15 irons announced. I went on to the website and wen through the HoganFit system immediately. I'm a bit younger so I didn't grow up using Hogan irons, but i have the same appreciation for the brand and its amazing equipment as anybody who did. revkev
Yet another great opportunity being offered through My Golf Spy, thanks for the invitation. Being a SCOR user I tried the Hogan Fit system early on and was a bit disappointed. I was happy to discover that the system has been upgraded significantly and I found that the process was currently the most thorough online experience that I've encountered. I did not try the "contact us" tab. If it is not available via that tab I would suggest that Hogan consider making live chat available for those who go through the online fitting. Regardless it was a good experience and I understand why it formulated my prescription as it did. Current Handicap: 3 What does the Hogan Name mean? In a word, excellence. Whether it was on the course, practice range, instructional materials or golf equipment the person and name of Ben Hogan has always stood for excellence in my book. I know that Hogan Golf and My Golf Spy will put together the very best team of testers possible. I'm hopeful that I will be one who is chosen. 550025
Very interested in the Hogan brand. Been playing for 40+ years and played Hogan irons my whole career. I'm happy the brand is alive again. Mr. Hogan is the epitome of courage, perseverance and success. I'm active in the Ben Hogan Foundation for that reason. 40+ years playing hdcp: 6.5 play 2 - 3 times a week. Drtheel
Prescription below Hdcp 6 Hogan means a standard of excellence born of hard work and focus. Beating balls into a mattress in the middle of the night to learn feel, walking away from that horrible accident with no other thought than to play and win again, and knowing the odds while NEVER quitting. I know the SCOR clubs and mentality and am a believer. The name and reputation along with research and development will make this a huge success. I believe precision is the key to making me better and I would love to test these to contribute to showing what they can be. Can't paste prescription - mine is 23 - 59 with 4 deg spacing KBS X flex with 1 in extended 1 up.
