dirtgrinder
Does anyone want to share their expertise about their sunglasses they wear on the course. Golf lens vs. black lens, etc.. Polarized or non-polarized? What they like or dislike about their golf shades. I'm looking for a good pair for the course and the truck which may mean getting two different pairs. Currently looking at Oakley's Prism or G30 lens.
dru_
Oakley Prism's. I've worn a lot of sunglasses (and buy new ones at an alarming rate due to cycling). Bogey in The Woods
i personally am wearing the Oakley g30 lenses. They take a lot of the green hue out of the fairway and specifically the green. PlaidJacket
I'm currently wearing Rayban model 4057. Black frames and dark polarized lenses. Mine are also bifocal. These were not all that expensive and that's why I bought them. $120. Of course I paid a little more for the lenses but not a lot. http://www.ray-ban.com/usa/sunglasses/RB4057-rb4057-black/805289077022 Believe it or not I used to wear some of those HD Vision sunglasses like you've seen on TV. I found they fit right over my regular glasses. I liked them and they were only $9.95 at Walgreens. I always wanted to wear some of those cool sunglasses like Duval or Stenson but in a prescription they are... OUCH. dru_
Sorry, when I answered this initially, I was on the phone and I hate typing on it. The longer version, it took several arguments with my optho to get me to wear a polarized lens for anything. I hate the way they interact with other polarized surfaces, which there are far more than you realize. Windshields on cars, face shields on helmets, LCD screens, etc. I eventually learned to just deal with it, because it is better for your eyes, and mine are not the greatest to star with. So I started trying out many many sunglasses. Tifosi, Bolle, Oakley, Maui Jim, Ray Ban, SPY++, POC, Optic Nerve, and a few smaller brands are al sitting in a drawer somewhere. I've tried different tints, transitions, photo chromatics, you name it, I have probably tried it. The last couple of years, it's been Bolle or Oakley's, in amber or blue, polarized. If you think about the sports I engage in, golf, cycling and running, they all have a common theme. Lots of time in the sun, sweat, and a need to see clearly in varying light conditions. My go to for the previous years was the Oakley Half Jacket w/ Bronze Polarized, and they worked great for most conditions, but, I never really 'loved' the color variations on lush turf. Enter the Half Jacket with the Iridium Polarized. Loved them, but still had issues with the polarization (particularly my watch). Earlier this year, an Oakley rep let me borrow a pair of Racing Jackets with the then unreleased Prism lenses. It was a very crisp and bright winter day, and a great bike ride that day. By the time I got back to the shop, I was ready to order a pair. I've had them for about 3 months now, and I wear them for everything, including rising/fading light ( though I have some true ambers for low light, I don't find I need them ). Out on the road, they are fantastic, all the benefits of polarized, none of the downsides. and for clarity and crispness? I have never seen anything better, and that includes the one pair of golf specifics that I have owned. The Bolle with the Photo V2 Golf lenses.
