So between school, looking and interviewing for work, getting my house and family baby ready (July 8th) and helping everyone and their mother (literally) move I haven't had time to swing a club in about 2 weeks.

 

Went to the driving range today. I felt and probably looked like Sir Charles. It's amazing how quickly without playing and practicing I can lose a good swing. Back to the drawing board apparently....

I just don't know many people who actively seek out unwarranted advice from folks, not unlike yourself, who struggle to break 90..

 

If the guy wants to beat the ball all over the course, so be it. He wants to play tour issue clubs, who cares?

Lots of venting going on- any thread that has a Major League or Rube Baker quote is a-okay in my eyes!

 

Regripping is a tough one. Had a guy who developed this and shut it on the way back very poorly. I had him practice his takeaway eyes closed- developed a little box drill- and over time he complete forgot about the regrip.

 

The mind is a fragile thing. Closing ones eyes takes the fear out of it. People often forget that fear isn't real- it's a preconceived notion of something that probably never will happen. Closing eyes before impact also fixed the putting and chipping yips for a few others as well.

You're pissy alright Justin. There was nothing wrong with suggesting that. As several others have said here also, it's a good idea and you can learn a lot from trying it. I was breaking 100 when I started playing a full course. Why? Because I learned how to hit my short clubs first. My driver and putter kept me shooting over 90 for a long time. So that suggestion came from experience.

 

But that's fine. We know what kind of person keeps doing the same thing expecting a different result.

 

John at least has the sense to quit using the clubs that he was fighting instead of insisting on using them out of a stubborn ego. That's common sense right there.

Not everyone on this sight struggles to break 90, also not everyone is unqualified to give suggestions, tips or even teach. We come to this sight to learn and keep things light. There is no reason to be snarky even if you did not like the advice given. Everyone has said no Thanks to any advice in this particular situation so it's end of discussion.

 

Also just because someone pays to play does not always mean they should be allowed on the course. There is a reason marshalls are employed. I'm not saying anyone on MGS meets this criteria just making a point.

Well, beat the ball over the left side of the course yesterday with only an 8 iron, 60 degree wedge and a putter to the tune of a 94, as compared to the mid-100s I had been shooting. A lot less stressful and was a fun round. My wedge was on, as usual, but I could have broke 90 easy, left a lot of shots out there.

 

Just vexes me I can hit the 8 so well, and can't copy it to other longer clubs. Yes I regripped, and yes it was a big draw, but controled compared to other clubs.
