Almost all of us have a weakness for putters...and most of us have both owned quite a few and window shopped quite a few in our time.

So if money was no object what 3 putters would you own?

My Scratch putter that has not arrived yet.....

Byron Morgan (because everyone here seems to love them so much)

A putter that I make myself (never tried, don't know if I could do it, but that would be the best putter ever)

Lucky for me but I already own 3 putters that I would not trade for the world.

Two of them reflect my love for one particular designer, the third is so special as I never expected it to turn out so nice.

The first - Bettinardi Big Ben

bhb40.jpg&size=18&dhm=c156b82b&hl=en

The face milling alone as well as its unique shape caught my eye.

I showed it to an acquaintance who is a custom knife maker who was friends with Karsten Solheim and had also submitted a design to him. He was blown away by the milling.

The second - my Wishon S2R/Mannkrafted putter.

Who would have though that a previously non descript putter could turn out to be a work of art.

In its short time it helped me sink some 30's and it being so unique inspired confidence every time I gamed it.

The third and while not possibly the last ( never say never :( ) is the Bettinardi Black Carbon which I just purchased a few days ago. My thoughts have already been posted here about it.

ps - if a 4th is too be found, LaMont and I will be having a chat about one of his creations.

Love the Bettinardi/Mizuno BC-7. Really love the looks of the TM Ghost too. Beyond that, I'm not much of a putter fiend, but yeah...pretty much any of the Bettinardi stuff really.

Ya know, five years ago, I would have been all over the place with this list. Today, I am drawing a blank. With each new model and every different shaping I do, I find a new "must have". Thankfully, I don't play as often as I used to, so it is tough to fall in love with one putter, for any great time span. I keep drooling at the new stuff..........but, it is all stuff that has originated in my shop, for one company or another.

I have become, PUTTER SELF-SNOB and I am not sure that will change, anytime soon.

So, for my top 3:

Sunset Beach New Model, SP-2

2010_05290032.jpg

Sunset Beach Ocracoke, Long neck model, coarse milling, 345 grams. Sorry, no pics of this one in the LN model....yet.

MannKrafted MOI Prototype, still in the works, but getting all my love, right now.

Thx,

A Bettinard BB Zero with modified fit face made from copper

A newport Buttonback in black

A BB5 with modified fit face

Honman - A Bettinard BB Zero with modified fit face made from copper

Now how cool would that be. The heck with Odyssey,T/M and others with their synthetic inserts. That Bettinardi can take a piece of stainless and mill it into a completely different profile than the face and have it respond in such a soft manner is amazing.

As far as I know there is not one other company that displays his milling creativity.

Scotty Cameron D009 That's the damascus putter that looks absolutely unbelievable, and is a true work of art http://www.scottycameron.com/studio/articles/details.aspx?id=33

Newport2 Timeless SSS Xperimental Blue Pearl Mist finish http://en.cameron-museum.com/shop/putters/id-2447, that putter has the best finish scotty has ever used

and last but not least the Odyssey PT82, for those who don't know that is the prototype putter that replicates Phil Mickelson's putter used in the 2010 Masters

LMAO! I love to see that type of post, Rookie. I hope that I am reading it right and I am definitely smiling as I type this response.

After the way my "Mini" turned out, the Winslow, I would have no problem doing another. It is funny how sometimes, as craftsmen, it takes a kick in the seat of the pants to get us to do something for the first time, then a shot to the head to get us to quit doing it, LOL.

I'll have some pics of the only mini I have made, all finished up, later today. Sent the customer a note thru FaceBook and I am sure he is also getting anxious.

Thanks,

LaMont in AZ

No problem LaMont, I saw it on Facebook is why I mentioned it. Though I think if it were me and a Mini for me, I'd like to see either a Mini Anser (or Newport for the Scotty fans) or a Squareback style Mini but centershafted. I can't get your site to load so I could say the Mannkrafted style names.

Hey I know Kari, we are members of the same course. He is a great guy and a master craftsman.

I'm weilding a YES Victoria II at the moment, but would definately game one of the Scotty Fastbacks or one of Kari's mallet creations

I have a hard time understanding how anyone can want more than one putter. I love the one I am using (Now) and wouldn't consider using another. It's a STX Greeny Plus VIII. It has a straight shaft which enters the mallet head in the middle. It is a bit heavy, but has a great feel. You need to use a pendulum swing for it to be effective, but it is really great. My link
