Who might be up for a Minneapolis area get-together the weekend of July 24th?

 

Who wouldn't want to tee it up with hckeymeyer, myself, wbealsd and the best looking man in golf, the irrepressible SpyZinger?

 

If we plan it right we could get 3 or 4 rounds in....and if you fly in you can check out the WAY cool PGA Golf facility at the airport!

Just to be clear on how to block the time, will we plan on playing Friday the 24th + Saturday, or Friday, Saturday, Sunday?  I want to schedule an Edel putter fitting at Totally Driven if I'm going to be in or near the Twin Cities.

IF I were to make this trip, I will need specific dates to fly in and out, and an indication of what part of Minneapolis to make hotel reservations.  I don't want to stay on the opposite side of the city from where other people are staying and playing.  It has to be a Marriott.

Seems like there's some interest --- thinking of playing Friday/Saturday/Sunday - unless folks would prefer to do something during the week instead of a weekend.

 

I'd think if people wanted to come in Thursday night and play all three days, and head home Sunday night, that would be cool.  We could make the Sunday outing near the airport and do it fairly early.  If others would rather come in Friday and play just Saturday and Sunday, that would be okay too.  

 

Plenty of Marriott-related hotels centrally located, probably along the 494 corridor.  Zinger's course is about 45 minutes east, while hckeymeyer's course is about 45 minutes northwest.  Plenty of courses within 20 minutes of the 494 corridor south of the river that would be fun, too.

Just checking the board before turning in. Let me check those links in the morning. Keeping play around the courses in Prior Lake might be nice, find lodging there and less driving around, more time to play!

The Mystic Lake course is on the grounds of the local Native American casino -- which includes a very nice and very reasonable hotel.

Saturday & Sunday would probably work best for me.  Ratings on the casino course are really good and there's a room/golf package (Call for reservation and mention Promo Code Golf15) .  If we schedule a Saturday tee-time, I'd check-in Friday night.  We could have a group dinner or meet-up Friday night.

 

It looks like The Wilds has a terrific Sunday Brunch from 10a-2p and is also close to the casino.

Okay -- this is official!  A Minneapolis MGS Get Together on the weekend of July 24-26!  

 

Troy Burne in Hudson, WI on the 25th, TBD on the 26th (Meadows at Mystic Lake, The Wilds, Stonebrooke, Deer Run, Crystal Lake all options, depending on budget and timing).

 

Twin Cities Golf is hosting a scramble tourney at Troy Burne on the 25th.  We could play in that or just play on our own.

 

So Zinger, wbealSD and myself are in...who else?????

It's about 45 minutes away from the casino hotel, just over the St.Croix River - maybe the best daily fee course in the area

Let's go ahead and get some tee-times setup at the courses we'll play, then those of us that are travelers can figure out the logistics on where we'll stay.  If KennyB can make it, I'd like to coordinate with him so we can get together when I schedule a fitting at Totally Driven, carpool (since I'll be driving), etc.

 

If we learn the course at Mystic Lake all weekend, that's good.  If we play a scramble in Hudson and then another course, that's fine too.

 

We'd just like to stay as centralized to the courses, as possible, to play more golf and do less driving, if possible.

 

Totally Driven is going to be a part of my weekend, so I'd like to make sure we're playing close enough THAT'S not out of the way.

OK, I'll be checking in at the Microtel Inn in Bloomington Friday the 24th.  That should be a reasonably central location to base out of for the weekend.

 

I also requested a wedge fitting at Totally Driven for anytime after 1pm Friday, so I should hear back from them in the next day or two.

I'm open to whatever they determine works best for me.  I may drop a hybrid to add a wedge, or replace one wedge (or both) to gain more flexibility than I have now.  Maybe all I need is a shaft change to accomplish what I want, which is more flexibility in bunkers.

Kind of a bummer, but I'll be out of town that weekend.  On the flip side it's for a golf buddy trip to play a tourney in Duluth so at least it's for a good cause
