As a final thought before I hit the sheets, I wish all the competitors a lot of luck tomorrow. Because I'm an American first and foremost, I'd love to see either Speith or Johnson win but if I had to root for someone other than an American my choice would be for a very gritty and competitive Jason Day. Good luck to all, and good night.

Well well, I fell asleep at 1.15 am and it was looking like 1 under would lead - fair play to those that hung on. Still got a couple of pounds on Lowry at 80/1 - he looked great through first 12. Come on Shane! Do it for me - want some money to buy myself a new bag, or a putter.....

There's a mess for one of the top 3 out there.

Also I wonder if Rory or someone else could get out early with no pressure shoot the 4 under that Louis did today and put some pressure on? I suspect not but we could do with the pressure being really on before the last two groups go out.

Rest in peace long sticks - I'll remember you

Wow, Holly Sonders is just brutal interviewing people.

Can't agree with this enough! She's pathetic. She interviewed Kevin Kistner after his round (T-15 @ +2). Don't you think he must be excited to talk about his round and the event? All she asked him about was Jason Day. Two or three questions on how heroic his round was and that was it. What a bummer.

Being a patriotic Aussie I have to throw my weight, heart and support behind young Jason Day.  I made the call after the first round and I think he's capable of doing it.  Hang in there my man and shoot the lights out tomorrow,

I'm going to go out in a limb here and say that this tournament will be won by someone other than the four tied for the lead right now.

I honestly think someone could go out and shoot 5 under (say stenson) in an earlier group and then conditions be more difficult for the later pairings and they all shoot over par.

Of course this is possible but it would have to be an even par guy getting out. There won't be that big a time gap between the -4s and the -1s. Weird the way the scores collate red this year.

Last day of vacation for me. I actually have a Sunday morning tee time because I will go to church tomorrow. It seems so strange to be getting ready to play at 9 in the morning. Remember when The Open played 36 on Saturdays because of the Sabbath laws in Scotland?

Looking up some stories this morning. Can't believe Louis oosthuizen went 77 first day and then back to back 66's. Looks like escaping the woods/fowler group got rid of any sympathy pain. Be surprised if he isn't in contention in the final stretch.

Been busy all week - have watched precious little of the tourney.  Hope to watch it down to the wire tonite!  Not sure who to root for -- Day and Johnson's time is coming. Either would make for a great story. Spieth is on a bit of a roll, wouldn't you say? And the South African dude out of nowhere would be cool, too.

So, what happened to Phil and Rory?

So, what happened to Phil and Rory?

Phil's wheels came off and Rory couldn't get any traction. Dustin's doing a great job cruising along.

I just read roughly 150 emails from this thread as I have been working 3 -12 hour Nursing shifts this week. I haven't been following the thread until now.

Thanks you guys for keeping me posted. I feel like I got the highlights from the posters.

Just heard the winds will be picking up as the day goes on, not just more wind but directional changes as well. This could be a long, long day. Also, the docs have cleared Jason Day to at least start his round. Hope he hold up to the pressure and the winds.

It's going to be a exciting final round. Par is going to be very important. I think Speith will win it at -5

As for the winds they usually taper off around 530 from what I remember. So by the time they get to 10-12 the winds should be pretty calm.

So, what happened to Phil and Rory?

Phil blew up on day 3. Really after the first 11 or so holes he lost his ball striking and it was a matter of time before he truly disintegrated. Rory has been on the outside looking in, total non factor so far, although with a good round today he's going to be well within striking distance. He's a dark horse to post a good round and steal the tourney if the leaders falter.

Sergio with an early birdie. He's going to need a career round and a lot of help to be anywhere near the top.

I just got done playing in the sunday game. Shot 86 which included losing 3 balls all Wilson FG Tours that I got in the test. On the plus side had two potential KP's from 175 and 180 that were within 15 feet and 25 feet with a group to play. Only one birdie, but it was on the 180 yard par 3 and the group before didn't have anyone on the green. Hoping those two pan out so I can play for free Saturday.

I'm going to take a nap but be back before the leaders tee off. Just think if the final round takes 6 hours, it will end around midnight eastern, that's a big drawback to a west coast US Open.

It seems like a lucky bounce might win this open and that is just not right

I've heard people say that but how many great shots have the leaders hit? How many were lucky? The leaders have done a great job navigating the golf course. It's not luck, but a lot of skill and learning the course. big difference between seeing a guy hit rocks and end up on the green and a player figuring out how to use the backboards to put it close.
