What golf books are you reading?

Heard lots of opinions on his book. Read a lot of his blog posts and watched a couple of webinars. Let me know what you think.

Decent book. Actually provides a path for improvement and it does not imply that improving is a quick fix.

I throw in a few that at first glance aren't about golf but definitely apply.

The Four Agreements - Don Miguel Ruiz

The Obstacle is the Way - Ryan Holiday

The Dichotomy of Leadership - Jocko Wilink

Five Fundamentals - Steve Elkington has a great section on grip with photos. Definitely learned a few things and it is available as a free download online!

Hard-hitting piece in the most recent Golf World magazine.  I think I will read Ken's book after reading this.  Warning; this article gets pretty messed up!

Heal your soul and be happy Mr. Green!

Incredible story.  I think I am going to add this to the collection soon.

Current book list is:

Pennick's Little Red Book, will finish shortly.  Then onto The Big Miss by Hank Haney and then Unconscious Scoring.

I'm currently reading The Kingdom of Chivas Irons by Michael Murphy (sequel to Golf in The Kingdom) again. It addresses some of the more esoteric ideas associated with the game and the rabbit holes can go pretty deep.

Prior to this one, it was Raymond Floyd's The Elements of Scoring which encompasses many mechanics as well as mental prep.

Just wrapped up Be a Player and really enjoyed it. It really resonated with a lot of the mental work I've heard/learned about in other arenas, so it was fun to hear how they're applying it to golf. I haven't been able to really get my think, play, and memory boxes going yet, but I'll keep working on it... I'm interested to check out one of their other books too. Maybe Every Shot Must Have a Purpose?

And thanks to everyone here for building my 'to-read' list; my wife would like me to decide if I want to play golf or buy books about golf, but says our budget can't handle both! 😄

I read Slaying the Tiger by Shane Ryan last week and found it to be an enjoyable read, actually finished it in three days. This week has been Golf is not a Game of Perfect by Dr. Bob Rotella and it has been a hard one to put down since it seems to hit home with a lot of my thoughts on the course. I've found it to be quite relaxing when I am constantly telling myself "I do that too" while reading.

Should have a couple more books arriving sometime this week as well. I think that it is safe to say that I am on a reading kick at the moment.

Have a bunch of credits on audible.... we did the trial thing and didn't cancel and they keep giving me free credits each month so every time I go to cancel it's "YOU HAVE 6 FREE BOOKS ARE YOU SURE?!?!"

the golf selection isn't great but I listened to "Be a Player" ... a lot of theoretical/mental/psychological stuff. Not sure if it helped or hurt.  LOL

The First Major, Feinstein's book on the 2016 Ryder Cup that is also very much a history of the Ryder Cup as a whole, is a great read.  Now I'm halfway through A Good Walk Spoiled, then going to read Zen Golf.  And if I concentrate hard enough, I'm sure I'll be able to actually hear my wife's eyes roll when I bust that one out and put it on the night stand.

I'm currently reading The Kingdom of Chivas Irons by Michael Murphy (sequel to Golf in The Kingdom) again.

I have Golf in the Kingdom, but have never gotten through it.  I'll have to give it another go.  One of my all-time favorite books is The Legend of Bagger Vance.

I recently caught the golf bug again after almost 2 years away from the game.  Current reading list:

1) Short Game Bible by Pelz - I'm a big fan and am currently working on my finesse wedge swings

2) Bulletproof Putting in Five Easy Lessons by Michael McTeigue - Kindle Version - I'm really enjoying it

3) The Unstoppable Golfer by Bob Rotella - Love Rotella - Got the Kindle version and it came with a free Audible version too.  Listening to this.

4) The Practice Manual - on order

If you are looking for a classic and easy to follow instructional book, "Ben Hogan's Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf" is a MUST read.

For fun, I have "Commander In Cheat" by Rick Reilly. I have not been able to start it yet, but I have heard it is pretty funny.

I also own "The Practice Manual: The Ultimate Guide for Golfers" by Adam Young that I flip through on occasion. This book is great for training yourself on how to practice, and full of drills and improvement techniques you can take with you to the range.
