McaseyM 1,725
Howdy all, I am the president of a non-profit that purchases equipment and services for underfunded/underinsured patients that come through UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA, who would otherwise be unable to get them. We have our annual golf tourney fundraiser in August and here's my idea for an auction item. Wondering if this is a good idea and if I can get some help? I am looking for older style vintage Ping putters, like anser, B60s, ZING, OLD, a-blade, j-blade, z-blade to have refinished and sell at auction. I contacted Ping and they are $17.75 each to disassemble, tumble, blast finish, grind if needed, repaint to factory specs and reassemble, and then up to $17.00 to ship back (total shipping for all clubs), and additionally, we plan to purchase the blade cover head covers to go with it. I can buy the Pingman putter grips for $6-7 each or we have a cork grip company that is sending us a bunch of grips to sell for whatever we can, we just pay them back their cost ($15), and ship them back the unsold extras. So i have to put $40-48 into each putter before I can even sell them. Is this worth it and if you think so, anyone have any putters they can sell on the cheap or willing to donate? I have tax donation receipts available for putter and/or shipping costs. Kenny B 32,459
I've never had a Ping putter. For some reason I haven't found one that feels good in my hands. But $17.75 sounds very reasonable to refurbish a putter. Is that their normal price, or did they give you a break for non-profits? McaseyM 1,725
$17.75 is standard price for putters, $27 for irons. they do some great price breaks for buying equipment for non-profit fundraisers, but no other breaks on labor. JspartansC 42
I love the old vintage putters. I think this is a great idea, especially if they are treated up nicely by Ping.
