rvman
Of all the drivers you've ever used, which one had the hottest face? Almost like the same sides of magnets where the ball just explodes off the club. I play a Bridgestone hybrid that has a face like that and it's incredible. I don't even have to make full swing. But I've yet to find a driver like that.
Kenny B
RBZ FW and hybrids. Lots more distance than other woods, but not consistently the same every time. probably due to my inconsistent swing. I've tried the driver, but it wasn't much different than others I tried. I have now replaced the woods with old Sonartec FW; love them! “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
jbil8802
I'll have to go with my new (to me) Titleist 913 D2 driver after my first round with it today. It was the best I've driven the ball so far this year and I had a ton of confidence in it. Put it in spots on the course 10-20 yards ahead of where I've ever been with my G25 or JPX850 which were both good drivers to me. I'll leave it at that. I'm gonna go knock on some wood. Fireinthehole
Bridgestone j38 and j40! Both had nice springy faces. Callaway big bertha alpha did too. The Adams XTD was also really underrated. Butttttt the tmag R15 with the weights separate feels like it cannons off. Buddies call it the howitzer. My Mixed-Bag: Driver: Mavrik Sub zero, ventus black 7x Fairway: Still looking! Searching Fore a Holein1
My old Titleist 904 3 wood has to have the hottest face I know of. If I hit it on the numbers (which is rare), I hit it as far as my driver. Only club I have had in my bag for 10 straight years..
rvman
Thanks for the replies, lots of FW's mentioned. I know many of them are really good. But I want to know about drivers. The Powerbuilt is definitely on my radar because I've read SO many good reviews on it and the technology really intrigues me. And Ping drivers have always had my attention going back to the G15, but I never pulled the trigger on getting one.
mizuno_lover
For me lately and I ay me because it's a pretty subjective question and all about perceptions so I have to go with the Fly Z Driver. I even went so far as to trial the Fly Z+ driver out on the course just to be sure. The Fly Z+ had a different feel, it was quite solid but not as consistently long as the Fly Z. I was quite surprised by the measured distances being about 15 yards shorter with the + model and I used the Fly Z again yesterday and was delighted by the distance once again. It also has that explosive feel off the face that you asked about. Once again though I say that is my perception My Bag Driver: G25 Stiff shaft3 Wood: JPX 850 16 degree. rvman
I had a Callaway Diablo Octane and just could Not get on with it. I let my buddy try it and he was like a PGA pro with it so it's his now and he's giving me a couple of clubs for it. I'm just happy it works for him. That makes two Callaway drivers that didn't work for me. Go figure....
