PA/MD/VA/DC/WV/NJ/NY Meet Up

Recommended Posts

Alright guys, myself and Shawn disussed this in a different thread. Anyone from MGS is welcome. The states listed are obviously closest. Anyone else that wants to make the trip is more than welcome.

I live in South Central PA. Chambersburg more specifically. It's fairly centrally located. 2.5 hours to Pittsburgh, 2 hours to Philly, 1.5 hours to Northern Virgina, DC and Baltimore. 3 hours to Jersey. There are a ton of great courses close by.

If anyone is interested, let's get some ideas going and try to set something up.

Ok, I know this is an old thread.  But with a recent influx of new members from these areas, i thought I'd give this one a bump for us to post any outings or get together that may be going on, whether it's just two or twenty two.

With winter approaching I know the activity may dwindle a bit, but if anyone has suggestions on good places they go to practice or play during the winter,, be sure and share with us.

LOL....Yeah,maybe a course or two..ha

My fiance and i were watching an old rerun of Everybody Loves Raymond where the spent the night outside Bethpage Park (well it was really a studio...but who's counting...ha) and told her I was going to do that one day.   She laughed, and I said well that seals it, I'll do it now for sure just to prove you wrong.

So yeah, I'm down for a trip up there sometime, it's only about a 4 hour drive from here to the city.

Law student currently living in NYC, but I've got family in North NJ and Long Island that's just a short train ride away.  Always down to play golf with some normal people.  Once it gets nice, Ballyowen or Wild Turkey (Crystal Springs) are must play courses

Ballyowen is a really great course. What did you think about Crystal Springs? It gets hype as being difficult but I think it's quirky. Nice- just quirky

My two cents on Crystal Springs is for me it is not worth the drive for me.  I played a good event there for a few years that allowed me to play all three courses and thought they were nice, but not exceptional.  Last year I played the conditions were spotty at best.

I really like Crystal Springs, especially Ballyowen and Wild Turkey.  In particular, I really like that I can play an early round and one of the courses, break for lunch, and then play the other in the afternoon.  However, its facilitates also make it high traffic for outings so it's worth timing your rounds and looking at their calendar.

Fortunately, it's also only a 30 min drive from me, which is closer than some other North NJ alternatives, like Architects or Royce Brook.

In reading the introduction thread, I noticed that there are some new spies from the Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania areas.   So I thought I would bump this thread in hopes that an outing may be doable.
