PA/MD/VA/DC/WV/NJ/NY Meet Up

I received an e-mail from Whiskey Creek.   They are holding their First Annual Pro-Am on Monday, Nov. 6.   The format is a MidAtlanic PGA professional with a 3 person team.   Years ago, I played in three Eastern Shore Pro-Am and enjoyed it very much.   Anyone interested in putting in a team?

Saw that as well, just not sure I could find any PGA Pro willing to watch my wreck of a swing for 5 hours.  it might make him/her change professions...ha

But I'm game if you think we can put together a team.

Date may be difficult, but if I can, could work- need to know timing etc.

Again, its on Monday, Nov 6th with a 11:00am shotgun start.   Its stroke play with 1 best gross and 1 best net (cannot be same ball).   Amateurs must have a valid USGA handicap and will receive 80%.   Male amateurs 54 and under-Blue tees, Male amateurs 55 and over--White tees.

Cost is $125 per person and includes golf, prizes and food following play.   While I don't remember the green fee I paid earlier this year, but I don't think the entry fee is that much more than the summer fees.  Entry deadline is Nov. 3rd.

I wouldn't worry about your swing, its my experience the pros, while friendly and fun to play with, pay more attention to winning the pro tournament.

It would be great to play with you, let's see what we can do.

Saw this on The Morning Read.  If I lived back there, this would be a fun tournament.

I will need to calculate how much leave I have, because I have several trips (2  golf and 1 with the wife) coming up in the next several months- and unlike you retired folks, my time is not always my own.

It's Saturday, Oct 21.    It's $80 and includes golf, beer tasting, prizes, 4 drink tickets and a buffet.   The e-mail didn't say much about format or the tees to be used.   A man's gotta know his limitations and you've seen me on the regular tees.   Maybe they will be kind to us seasoned golfers.

Yeah, I knnow.  I played in one with SHTerp and his pro a few years back, and we was the nicest guy and all about having a good time.  Not really intimidating at all.   Let's see if we can do it.

Format is 2 person scramble, from the White Tees.  We know you can handle those just fine.   Especially if you have a partner with just a little bit of length.

You mentioned our old friend, SHTerp, have you seen or heard from him lately and how do we get him on this site.   He plays a good game of golf and would be a great spy.

I must be honest with you, playing from the white tees makes me a bit apprehensive.   If its handicapped, at least, the white tees will give the team a bit extra.  Using the white tees, I'm gonna need to think about it a bit before committing.   If it was just my score, no biggy, but I hate letting a partner down because I could be pressing because I'm playing where I truly don't belong.

At a club I once belonged,  the team handicap was the product of the handicaps divided by the sum of the handicaps.  For example, the handicap of a team made of a 6 and a 13 would be computed as:  78 divided by 19 or 4.10.   Why that computation was used, I have no idea. but I guess there's some logic to it.  Perhaps, it would be a good forum question, someone might know.

I haven't seen SHTerp since our round at Bulle Rock two years ago. I exchanged a couple emails with him within the last year. Sounds like he's given up golf forums. But maybe I'll shoot him another link to the site here.

Growing our DMV base is my goal for 2018!!

As for the white tees as usual your underselling your self. If you were to partner with soneone like STUDque. You'd be a deadly team. You get in the fairway. Allow him to swing away and more times than not. When you're hitting from his 280 to 300 yard drives, you'd have w wedge in your hand, and we know how deadly you are with those.

As for me. Il be there on the 21st. But working. So I won't be able to enjoy any of the craft de,fights.

I'm looking at trying to get something together for the 28th. Possibly Whisley Creek but stay tuned for more on that.

I'm thinking about taking off next Tuesday the 14th to play (weather pending). I figure I'd rather be on the course than at a desk for my birthday.

Anybody else available?

I will just add, for any local guys who are hesitant due to past conditions at Lake Presidential, I can assure you those are well behind them.  I played there in early October and it was in fantastic shape.   They are cart path only until the spring, to keep the course as less stressed as possible until then.

But the rate is a good one for Sunday AM $35 (my guest rate)

Let us know if you can make it!!

One time when I was playing Softball, the ump yelled "Batter Up"  When, I stepped in to the plate, he said, "Guess you'll do"      I proceeded to crush the 2nd pitch 30 feet into the trees behind the left field fence, and gave him a little, "yeah, that'll do" as I crossed home...ha
