Jmikecpa
Another good humble brag! I need to step up my game! I have been very fortunate with the courses that I have been able to play in the last ten or so years. A lot of them were right place at the right time and usually a part of a business deal. Kenny B
Wolfcreek in Mesquite. It was beautiful, but was kind of a weird layout and was not particularly enjoyable. In St. George area, I would recommend Coral Canyon. Also, for a short course I liked Sky Mountain. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Damn He's not the only person I know that's played there, just the most recent. I have a couple of friends that played for Augusta State and got to play it multiple times. I usually get over one person playing there when someone else I know plays there more recent than they did. It's like a shift of the scorn. I want to tee it up there so desperately that I've often considered volunteering as a caddie there just to get a chance at participating in caddie day once. Unlikely I'd be selected to get to, but I've considered it, absolutely. westy
The 2010 at Celtic Manors pretty good, the Belfry not so much. Best course I've ever played is West Lancs just outside Liverpool and jointly Hillside. Great courses. Just behind would be Woodhall Spa - fabulous track and some brilliant bunkers.... Anytime you need a ladder is usually a challenge. But the best courses and favourite? Never quite the same is it? So Shanklin and Sandown on the Isle of Wight, Beau Desert near Birmingam, Southerndown and Pennard in Wales are my favourites. Although I'll always love the course I started at and if I had one last game to play it'd be with my mates at Alresford. Playing Royal North Devon (westward ho!) on Thursday in a Mid Am, England's oldest course dating back to 1864. Old school links golf here we come. Kenny B
Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort. The Plantation course is a great venue. The clubhouse and restaurant are top notch, and the course in fabulous condition. I would say that if you go to Maui, you have to play it. However, I wouldn't put it near the top for nicest courses for me. Its expensive and it's a course that you have to play several times to play it decently. The fairways are wide open, fast and lots of slope. Just hitting the fairway does not always leave you with a nice shot to the green. The greens are big and fast unless you are putting uphill into the grain, then they are slooow. And then there's the wind. Would I play it again? Absolutely, on my next visit to Maui! But it beats you up. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
wbealsd
I really wish I'd taken up golf when I was younger, and traveled for work! That said, after last week-end, my top 2 courses I've traveled to have been played with fellow MGS'ers at Orange County National Panther Lake (played in January) and Troy Burne (played last weekend), with my top pick being Panther Lake. I seem to play around alligators better than I do ALL THOSE BUNKERS at Troy Burne. There have to be more bunkers on any given hole at Troy Burne than the total number of bunkers for an entire course, compared to what I'm used to. I can see why BarbaJo likes it, though. If I could Eagle the 14th hole, I'd like it better, too! westy
Ok it wasn't the nicest course I've ever played, but when you play real bad it can colour your judgement, but I'd encourage any visitors to the south west of England to play Royal North Devon to play a course that's pretty much as golf was 100 years ago. Oh and the bunkers.... Oh! The bunkers. When you stand on the 4th tee and face a blind tee shot over one of the deepest bunkers in the world which is so so wide. Check out the arrow to aim over! HighFade
Hands down, Pebble. Gorgeous. Not a hard course at all. I've played it 3 times. Birdied #2 every time. The first time I played it, my knees were shaking on #1. I just didn't want to look silly on the tee box, because there were a lot of people watching.
