All I know is that is a BS green tucked behind those two trees. Pretty much screws you if you are a high ball hitter. Hell I would need to be that far down the fairway so I could hit a low spinner pitch shot in there LOL

Hmmmm, watched the video, made me smirk about the duffed second as well.

But then I thought - this driver launches were boring as hell to me; callaway and TM didn't get me excited - my money stayed in my pocket.

Now we have the new Cobra (which looks cool), can TM answer with something new and interesting? I reckon they've held back a bit longer this year to see what others are doing (callaway - yawn) and that might be a good tactic.

So what have they got for us? Come on TM I was a ballzier, 10 yards more - bonkers driver. Make me want to spend some money!!!

Rest in peace long sticks - I'll remember you

Wow, don't you guys carry sand buckets with you?  We carry buckets and there are sand repositories about every third hole where you can refill your bucket.  Nothing worse than hitting a good drive only to find it in a grand canyon divot left by the likes of someone with an earthmoving contract via their wedges.

I kinda think they have a new driver coming out.  The reason I think that is the way he looks at the green and then back to the tee and the look on his face when he realises how far down that divot is.  Of course he never considers that it's someone's 2nd wedge shot as Under so rightly pointed out   That green just screams for a chippy seven iron bounced and run up through the middle to the centre of the green ;) ala  links style golf.

As Apprenti said about the R15 430......just screams hit me!

This thing does scream HIT ME! I envision it being pounded straight out towards the right edge of the fairway and then at about the 225 yard mark (from the tee) gradually moving towards the left and then wait, oh crap, get down, GET DOWN! hooking into the left hazard over the last 75 yards... At least, that's what I've got in the tank right now, a 300 yard sling blade.

I want to love anything that will help my game!  It is a good looking club though and seems to have adjustments on the hosel thingo.  I agree with undershooter though it does have a similar shape to the FT series.  I wonder what they'll call it though maybe the R - IP  seeing the company may be sold off.

Very sharp of Jmike to be asking what version 2 will look like when V1 hasn't been released yet  hysterical if you ask me but that's the rep they've earned.  I'll probably give it a hit on the range at the very least.  Once a Ho...

Blah, the new Cobra is the only driver in years that has me actually excited about hitting it.

I've only bought 2 drivers since 2009. I find it takes a lot get me really interested in new product releases, because lets face it, how much better are they going to be.

I have a revolving WITB policy.

helped out doing fittings with the m1 this past weekend at a launch event this past weekend and with the players we fitted the average gains over their previous driver was 15yards...higher swing speed players gained even more! pretty scary results from what i saw...the last time i saw results like this was when we were changing from stainless steel driver heads to titanium!

Before I get into specifics, let me get this out of the way: This is easily the best driver TaylorMade has produced in years.

Got to demo it today with withe the Fuji Pro 60 shaft (stiff). 460 head, set the weight back and the other weight to neutral - and lofted to 10.5 degrees.

Definitely a smooth swinging club. Nice light feel to it, but definitely don't lose the head any any point during the swing. The stock head/shaft pairing is a really good combo that is going to fit a lot of people.

Ball flight was exactly what I expected: high and penetrating. Saw distances that I would expect to see on well struck shots - carrying to the base of the hill at my local range with limited flight range balls - similar to the distance I see with my gamer. Where the M1 stood out from past TaylorMade releases was forgiveness. I was hitting the ball solid today, but on the few that I missed off-center, the ball still felt great and shot off the face and carried a good ways out (again, similar to my gamer driver). Unfortunately I wasn't given the adjustment tool when I went to the range, so I could not experiment with moving the weights around on the head.

Sound was very unique. Not high pitched, not mushy, not dead, not unpleasant. Just unique. Can't really remember a driver that compares to the sound of the M1.

I was excited to hit this driver today, and it did not let me down. Did it make me instantly want to put it in the bag in replace my gamer? Not quite - but I hit my gamer so good that it would take a bit more time for me to consider replacing it. If anyone has any specific questions, feel free to ask.

Well that was unexpected. My local range just came through in a huge way. Just got the M1 in so went there to demo it. They recognized me from demoing it last week and said that they got the 10.5 in Stock and they'd be willing to put me through an outdoor fitting for no charge as well as giving me a bonus on my trade in. They took the plastic off the 10.5 and away we went.

So out to the range the fitter and I went. I hit my driver to warm up. Hitting into about a 8mph headwind with limited distance range balls. I did what I normally do and scattered some balls about 255 or so carry. Once I was warm, he handed me the M1. Fuji Pro 60 stiff, 10.5 loft. Center and back weights. Thank god he was out there with me and I had hit my 545 first, because I would have not believed what I saw. 270+ carry on nearly every shot. I pegged the 275 sign on a fly twice. 275. Limited distance range ball. Beautiful baby draws. He was quick to point out that the M1 was launching higher and spinning less than the z545, and that is why, even into the wind, I was seeing the distance I was. I was literally laughing after some of the drives I hit. I told him I have been coming to this range for 10 years, and I have never carried their range balls 275 before.

Unfortunately, they are a smaller shop and don't carry much stock, so they were going to need to order the driver for me. I joked with him and said, hell, I'd take this one right here. He and the other owner nodded at eachother and said "no problem". They didn't have the headcover, so I will be picking that up next week, but I left with a shiny new M1, 460 head, 10.5 loft, Fuji Pro 60 shaft.

Congrats TaylorMade. You are back in a BIG way.

Taylormade will be back on top of the driver market again with this one.

I took the new M1 driver head I received and put it on the same shaft as I have been hitting with my Rocketballs Stage 2 driver.  My Stage 2 was a tour issue 11* played 2* open so 10*, averaged about 255 yards, misses about 225-235 yards on misses and one out of 20 could reach 280-290...

I have played three rounds with the M1 9.5* 2* open so 8.5*.   My average is 275-285 yards on about 80% of my shots with a gentle draw about 10 to 15 yards.  My misses have been 250+ yards.  My one in 20 drive went over the green 307 yards to center with the tees in the normal area.  I am playing it center and back weight positions for more forgiveness and even at 8.5* loft the ball flight is still medium high.  The spin is 1100 rpms less and the roll out is much longer, many of my drives with the RBZ 2 only released about 5 yards ie one bounce, the M1 drives bounce a few times.

I have test hit most of the big name drivers over the last three years at Golfsmith when the weather here in No. Va. gets to crappy to play.  I have not found anything that I picked up more than 6 yards with until the M1 it is going to stay in my bag for a long time unless someone can beat it by at least enough to hit on less club to the green.

It looks good and feels good.  The sound is decent not loud nor muted.

In conclusion:  I know the gains are due to the M1 head because I put it on the same, Matrix Ozik TP7HD shaft 44", as I have been using for over 3 years.  I couldn't recommend it more highly!!!  Get One!!!!
