Johan Rens 24
I like to arrange a golf trip for my son and his wife to travel for 12 months and play golf across the US. Any suggestions of golf courses and/or accommodation you can recommend will be appreciated. I actually have no clue where to start other than Dover (DE) where we live. Kenny B 32,480
DAD! I've missed you so much! That's amazing. Are you planning it together? Or is this a surprise? Travel by land? You can cover a lot of ground in 12 months. If it's a continuous trip, then planning has to start with the weather so southern U.S. courses in winter obviously. I've played mostly in the west from New Mexico, AZ, SoCal, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. I've played some in Florida, but others are more familiar with courses there. I can make some suggestions if you have an idea of what part of these areas you will be visiting and for how long. 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

PlaidJacket 7,737
I could rattle off a long list of courses but.... I'd recommend they hit the Robert Trent Jones Trail in Alabama at some point during their southern swing. Incredible courses and great value. I want them to experience the people in the rural areas and hopefully make some new friends! Thanks for the comments.

evershady 877
I think a good idea might be give some of the guys here a few days notice where they will be and anyone close could give them their favorite course possibly even show them around as a playing partner. Say they are near me I come up say Troy Burne in Huson,Wi great local course, then they could take the advise play alone or We could play it together. 1 Quote Chippewa Falls Wisconsin 10.3 Index Right Handed What's in the bag: Driver: FG Tour F5 8* Fujikura Speeder 757 Evolution Tour Spec X-flex, Anser 8*, Black Grafalloy Bi-Matrix X-Flex; King LTD Pro Orange Grafalloy Bi-Matrix X-Flex FW Wood: FG Tour F5 15* Fujikura Speeder 757 Evolution Tour Spec X-Flex Anse14*, Fujikura Speeder 757 US Open Edition , X-Stiff Irons: FG Tour V4 2 utility Iron, 3-PW, +0.25, 2* Upright, True Temper Dynamic Gold X-100 Wedges: FG Tour PMP Gun Blue 52* bent to 51*, 56* True Temper Dynamic Gold X-100 Shafts E2 35", 8802 35.5", Scottsdale, Wolverine C 35" Anser Milled, Anser 2 34"
DaveP043 5,455
I'd suggest a stop for a few days (or longer) in my "second home", Pinehurst and/or Southern Pines, NC. In addition to Pinehurst #2, host of several US Opens, there are dozens of really good courses and lots of excellent places to stay and to eat. 1 Quote Irons Titleist AP2 714, KBS Tour S, 3 flat Rogue SubZero, GD YS-Six X 52, 56, and 60 wedges B60 G5i putter Right handed Reston, Virginia
PlaidJacket 7,737
I agree 100% with Dave. And by the way, all the information you provided Dave; to my group this time last year was really useful and thoughtful. I can't wait to make a return trip. PH & SP is a special place. I'm glad you had a good time, its one of my favorite places too. We spent the long July 4 weekend there this summer, and will be back for Thanksgiving week again. Let me know when you're going back, and I'll try to update my recommendations. Jmikecpa 13,444
I can arrange for some private golf in DE for a start and may be able to get on a few in the Philly area as well. I am now in NY and can get them on Bethpage Black if you would like and have a lot of connections in Las Vegas and can arrange there as well. Shoot me a PM if I can help out. 1 Quote WITB Epic Max LS 10.5* GD AD TP 6x Epic Speed 15* GD AD HD 7x Apex UW 17* Project X RDX Smoke Black 80 6.5 PXG 0311X 4 GD AD DI 95x PXG 0311 ST 5 -GW KBS Tour 130 PXG Sugar Daddy 54* & 58* TTDG TI S400 L.A.B. PlaidJacket 7,737
Might be a little hard to do since there are 26 courses along the trail. It runs the entire length of the state from north to south. I've only played the 3 courses at Capital Hill in Prattville. That's just outside of Montgomery. 3 great courses.
