Do you "Steal" golf souvenirs?

I collect a golf ball from every course I play. I build my own display racks. I currently have five racks on the wall next to my simulator. I also keep an excel sheet listing all the courses played and states they were in. Currently at 148 courses. Every once in a while a course doesn't have a ball so at least it's on the spread sheet.
If I break a mile stone I will pick up a hat from the course. I have a hat from 100, 90, 80, and 70.  Maybe a new hat is in my future for a hole in one.

Both of those displays are very cool.  Never thought of pencils but with the majority being monogrammed with the course name, which can be positioned for easy reading on your holder, that's a great idea.  👏

Like Tom, I have a very small collection of golf balls that I keep as special momentos.  One with Clint Eastwood's name that I found years ago while playing in Carmel with my wife's Dad, one with a logo of a Lockheed C5 Galaxy (found at McChord AFB and the plane I use to fly in the USAF), and one with a "redeem for a free beer" from Bale of Hay Saloon in Virginia City, MT.

I'll take pencils occasionally. But I only keep things from really nice courses I'll likely only ever play once.

I was actually really surprised and excited that Whistling Straits gave you a metal bag tag right before you head out to the course. It's a really nice "free" souvenir. I also managed to obtain a paper Whisting Straits coaster from the Irish Pub in the clubhouse. To be fair, I did buy a yardage book from the pro shop, too. And donated 4 balls to the course during my round!

Considering the cost to play Whistling Straits, they should give you a nice bag tag 🙂.

I use 1 foot wide pine shelving. The actual size completed is 11" by 18" tall. I laid it out on graph paper and made the template. Spacing between tees is 1-1/2" spacing between tees from one ball to the next is 1/2".  I use a #16 drill bit for the tees.  I drill the hole about a 1/2" deep. Then just tap them in. I use a drill press for consistant depth. Just try one on scrap first. Different brands have different diameters.

Good luck and post your finished product.

When I started playing again regularly after I got a real job, I'd buy a shirt the first time I broke 80 on a course.  Then I started getting better, and I had too many shirts.  If I play a really memorable course or play a really memorable round, I'll buy something.  But most of the time I just take pictures.

If I'm playing with the girls and they want souvenirs, I'll buy them something.

I collect scorecards, yardage books and pencils....I also have about 300 various ball markers stuffed in a baggie...some quite nice.  I made a board 2 foot by 3 foot with my top 143 pencils on it. Why 143 because as I laid it out that's how many fit. As I have played just over 800 courses I have a bag full of pencils that weighs about 10 pounds.  Here's the pencil board. Zoom in....Many special places..IMG_20171212_1849226.jpg.246a221f9e5f812e188fa02d0a5d453d.jpg

I collect score cards, have around a 6 inch thick stack - all unfolded so they are "flat". Only collect cards from courses I have played (with maybe 3-4 exceptions).
