fozcycle
Just when I was getting used to the new Titleist DT Trusoft, I received a small package. This letter was in it. I am always excited to recieve Titleist Test Balls. Seems that they arrive in November every year. Has anyone else recieved the titleist Test Balls? If so, which ones did you get? Kindly post your reviews in this thread so we can all compare. Kenny B
Sort of looks like a Titleist DT90. Looking forward to your test results. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
fozcycle
Sort of looks like a Titleist DT90. Looking forward to your test results. Don't think so.....for one, it has a urethane cover. Also, i have always received pro V1 prototypes in the past. NiftyNiblick
I don't think Kenny was suggesting it's a DT 90 reissue, considering that the DT 90 was a surlyn covered wound ball. If they were going to reissue a nostalgia ball, it would be a balata covered classic, probably the K2 , and reassembling the winding tooling would be quite the project! Kenny B
So, it's a future ProV1? I don't quite understand a urethane covered ball that's not a ProV1. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
PlaidJacket
Could they be the new NXT Tour-S? Now with a urethane cover. That would be nice. Do the guys at Titleist know you post here on MGS? That might be interesting too. fozcycle
Thanks Plaid, I have been part of the Titleist test program for about 5 years. And based upon the ball markings and dimple pattern, these are definitely a Pro V1 prototype. There are Team Titleist testers within MGS as well as Golfwrx..........as you can see their posts when they get their test balls. I am pretty sure that I am not the only MGS to get the test balls. Kor.A.Door
I'm with plaid, they don't look like prov1x balls. The writing is more similar to what is used on the NXT balls. Lefties are always in their Right Mind

Undershooter
I'm Prolly wrong but I think the proV line was just updated this year. Which means the NXT line was due for a change in 2016. It would make sense that You received the new urethane NXT foz. Let us know how they are. fozcycle
My guess is that these "Test" balls are not for production in January, but rather they are for the following year. It would be useless to ask for feedback immediately prior to the new release.....as it does not give Titleist enough time to tweek anything. I going with my balls are Pro V1's for 2017. JBones
I got the same thing, Foz. I don't like the ball, whatever it is. I compared it to the MG C4 Tour and it is 10-15yds shorter off the tee and spins significantly less on full and half shots. It rolled well off the putter, but not any differently than the C4. tkgolf
I got the ones with a black number 2 days ago. They feel great and look good after chipping practice with them. I only hit a few full shots with them but appear to be longer and have better feedback when hit I think than the duo I currently played. Still golfing in Wisconsin in November so hopefully I can play a full round with them before it snows.
fozcycle
I determined that the first sleeve with red numbers are NXT Tours....I compared them to an NXT Tour and the dimple pattern was the same. I shot a 91 on Saturday then an 89 today. The NXT Came off the driver and soared down the fairway. Approach shots, when hit high, landed softly, almost plugging in the greens. Putting was a bit clicky, but I adapted to the feel for better putting today. I have not played NXT Tours for a couple years. They have never been my ball of choice.
