Planning any Golf Trips for 2016?

Love the Wynn, love hitting that Buffet post round.

I spent more nights at Wynn than I did at home last year so they take good care of me. Also helps that I am developing a casino across the street. My favorite Vegas restaurant is Sinatra in Encore but drinks and a small dinner at the Country Club is nice as well.

It's set. Me and my group are going to Kohler and Erin Hills in early September. We'll play 4 rounds. Straits, Meadows, River, and Erin Hills. We found a great house in Oostburg on the lake just south of Sheboygan. First time there so pretty excited to give those courses a go.

A good friend of mine is the head Concierge at the Wynn, love the Branzino when I eat there.  Looks like the World Resort is going to be MASSIVE

I'm actually not sure. This is my first year going with this group. I know they play the Dye Course at Barefoot, but not sure what else.

You'll have a great time.  My wife and I were there this past June, and loved the golf and the service.  We ate most of our meals at the Kohler restaurants, and any of those will serve you a very good meal.  We did have one off-campus meal at an Italian place on the river in downtown Sheboygan called Lino, I'd highly recommend it if you're going into the big city for dinner.

I'd like to on my next trip. I've heard really good things about both. I think this time we're playing Indian Wells, Pine Hills, the Witch, and International.

 

In November we played Grande Dunes, TPC Myrtle, Long Bay, and King's North.

 

Hopefully it's dried up a bit since November. The courses were soaked.

Just added another trip this year that will have a golf component. Just booked a week in the Dominican Republic for me and the family. Now to work on how to play Teeth of the Dog.

Well, a week turned into a week plus a few days, since we weren't able to fly back to Virginia on the weekend due to the "blizzard."  What a shame, being stuck in Palm Springs and having to play more golf!

Orlando Feb 17-21 for my birthday (and my twin brother's birthday).  We'll be visiting dad who lives in the Villages just outside of Orlando.  Supposed to be a retirees dream.  Something like 60 golf courses within 10 miles.  No car required, you just take golf carts everywhere.  movies, shopping, bars.

Ah, the Villages!  Lot of fun had with the Villages around the state.  Did you know that they have the highest per capita rate of venereal disease in the state, if not the nation?  Apparently, lot of swinging going on in the complex, and not just with the golf clubs!  Watch out for the cougars on the prowl!  And the golf cart drag races!  I'll stop now...

Well, my Kohler trip isn't set like I said it was back on Jan.14th. After some initial discussion with the guys they all said... Kohler. I also offered some smaller less expensive trips which everyone turned down. Ok Fine. I jumped on it and quickly worked it up and presented everyone with a general plan and expense estimate. Golf, airfare, rent car, lodging, etc. etc. Well, funny how quite everyone has now become. Now it seems they can't decide for sure. Might have conflicting plans. LOL Or... maybe their wallet is stinging. Kohler ain't cheap. I'm ready just about anytime. Maybe we'll still go. I'd like to. I'd also be happy doing a smaller less expensive trip. Either way. I've told them to figure it out and let me know.

We'll see....

Good luck!  I had a similar "gulp" moment when we were planning our trip.  I'm used to planning trips to places like Pinehurst and Myrtle Beach, where there are lots of places competing for your dollars.  For Kohler, especially the Straits Course, if you want to play it, you stay with them, and you pay their price.  You can save a little money by staying at the Inn on Woodlake, instead of the American Club, but its still a lot of money.  I can honestly say that from the East Coast, you can arrange a trip to Scotland or Ireland for around the same price as a similar amount of time in Kohler.  Even so, I'm glad I did it, at least the one time.

Yes. It's expensive. I liken it to Bandon. I had already called and checked on playing the courses at Kohler and Erin. They said we could play all courses even if we don't stay there. Same price. I also found us a nice house to rent close by. That alone saves a bunch. Who knows, these guys might still decide to go and that's fine with me. We have plenty of time. I'm the guy that usually gets our trips set up, etc.

I also suggested Palm Springs but didn't get much interest. Everyone I know that's been there liked PS.  I'd like to go there personally so perhaps next year?

We got tickets to watch Sunday of the Ryder cup in MN in October. We then plan on flying out to Vegas the next day (God bless our wives...) We are looking for some stay and play packages. Definitely want to do at least two rounds, we could care less where we stay. Any ideas?????

Make sure to make time to for a round or two in Minnesota when you're out here.

 

When you hit Vegas there are a bunch of options. TPC Vegas is one of my favorites - and Wolf Creek is up theorist about an hour and is spectacular.

I second Barbajo and say Wolf Creek is a must play along with Coyote Springs which is about 45 minutes from Mesquite. I don't know about stay and play deals in Vegas but I know Mesquite has some.

Trying to get a guy's trip out to pinehurst, luckily only a 3ish hour car ride from the house. Going to play around sc coast on family vacation, also heading to Destin, FL for a friends wedding so hope to get a round or 2 in down there as well.
