Sned's finally upgraded from his old Taylormade driver last weekend in Hawaii -- played pretty good, too.  Here's the lowdown on the new Bridgestone JGR he put into play...

  SNEDEKER PUTS NEW DRIVER INTO PLAY

Covington, Ga. — Bridgestone Golf, the #1 ball-fitter in golf and a recognized industry innovator, announced today the launch of its new JGR Driver.  The new Bridgestone JGR Driver utilizes revolutionary technologies to deliver longer distance and more forgiveness.

 

“We set out to make the JGR Driver our fastest and most forgiving ever,” said Josh Kinchen, Golf Clubs and Accessories Marketing Manager, Bridgestone Golf, Inc. “The engineers really outdid themselves, as the JGR is not only incredibly forgiving, but also extremely fast and high launching.  Combine that with the ability to optimize spin for players of all skill levels, and we expect that this driver will turn a lot of heads this year.”

The increased distance and forgiveness that the JGR Driver provides is achieved through 3 proprietary technologies:

 

1.     F.A.S.T Crown

·      The Flex Action Speed Technology (F.A.S.T.) crown is extremely thin near the clubface and progressively thickens towards the club head rear to enable the crown to slightly flex at impact creating higher launch and increased repulsion where players impact the face of the club most often, above center.

 

2.     speeDARC 

·      A pair of internal arc-shaped ridges provides increased sole rigidity and better stability for the F.A.ST. Crown to flex against, leading to higher launches and extreme ball velocities.

 

3.     Power Milled Face

·      Bridgestone's patented face milling pattern works to reduce the golf ball slippage and increased spin problem that all competitor drivers today face.  The newly improved design has been enhanced for the JGR Driver.  Milling is spaced further apart at the top of the driver face to maintain spin, while the milling is tighter and rougher at the bottom of the driver face to decrease spin on mishits.  In addition, a new vertical milling pattern is utilized on the heel and toe of the face to further stabilize the ball on mishits.  The milling combines to reduce spin (300 RPMs based on robot testing) for straighter and longer drives.

Further enhancing the spin control of the JGR driver is a dual zone adjustable weighting system.  The Heel weight can be modified to create a more piercing trajectory with lower spin, increased roll and more draw for longer distance.  While the Center weight can be altered to increase trajectory for maximum carry distance.  

 

The JGR Driver made its PGA TOUR debut in the hands of Brandt Snedeker at the 2016 Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Maui, where he immediately showcased improved accuracy and distance, on his way to a T3 finish. 

 

The JGR is available in 9.5, 10.5, and 12-degrees of loft. JGR comes standard with the new Aldilaâ„¢ NV 2KXV Orange driver shaft and custom yellow grip. Custom shaft and grip options are available.

 

The JGR Driver will be available March 4, 2016, and has a street price of $299.

Thanks for going back and adding the S to Ned's because i didn't give a damn about Ned's New Driver, but Sned's New Driver is different.

 

It's hard to get too excited about Bridgestone Clubs because I have yet to see one out in the wild (on the course) or even in captivity (in the golf shop). They are as rear as bare breasted natives and only seen in pictures.

Dang, they had me until they said "above center".  I impact the face most often below center... no matter how high I tee it.

 

Nice looking though, but why don't OEMs post pics at address?

Dang, they had me until they said "above center". I impact the face most often below center... no matter how high I tee it.

Nice looking though, but why don't OEMs post pics at address?

I was hitting the M1 the other day and I noticed that the sweet spot was nowhere near the center of the face, and it seems as though none of the newer drivers have the sweet spot near yet center, they are ALL above the center, and a bit toward the toe, that's how they are made. So for Bridgestone to actually say it, kudos to them, as I hit the M1 I would hit the sweet spot and it would launch, about 17*, and have about 2200 spin, with 102 ss, it would carry to about 275, and roll to about 305. If I hit the center, it was about 14.5*, and have about 2400, which isn't bad but it would carry about 250 and roll to 265. Huge difference, tee it high and let it fly. The truth is that you have to hit high on the face to launch it properly, at least that is what I have noticed.

      Hello,
      Has anyone tested the Bridgestone Tour B RX or RXS balls? I haven't found a topic on them.
      I recently found a Tour B RX ball and started chipping and putting with it. It was in perfect condition when I found it and after practicing with it, it was in much better condition than the Pro V1's that I also use for practice. I'm amazed with it's durability but I found the B RX to be a little hot off the face compared to the Pro V1 (softer vs firmer feel?). I played a round with it and compared it to my gamer (Srixon Q-star) and didn't see much difference but I also played like crap that day, so it's difficult to say. 
      What experience have you guys with it? Is it worth the buy?

      It's Forum Testing Season!!
       
      We kicked it off last week with the Galway Rain Gear and we are moving right along with giving 10 testers the oppportunity to put the new Bridgestone e12 balls to the test.   
      As you may have read or heard previously the e12 is a new ball to Bridgestone, it takes the place at the family table previously held by the e6, meaning priced at $29.99 retail.  However, while it has the same price as the previous version of e6 there is a lot more that has gone into this ball.
      “With the benefit of 12 years of ball-fitting data, we have amassed an incredible body of data that has allowed our R&D engineers to pinpoint specifically what causes players to lose distance and accuracy in golf ball construction,” said Elliot Mellow, Golf Ball Marketing Manager, Bridgestone Golf.  “Contrary to the traditional school of thought in golf ball design, where power comes solely from the core, our new Active Acceleration Mantle actually allows us to derive additional power from the mantle layer to boost distance.       So that sounds exciting, who doesn't want to  discover the Holy Grail.   So never one to keep such wonderful things under wraps.  We are going to provide 10 of our valued forum members a chance to try these out for themselves and report back their findings. 
      These balls will be hitting retail shelves sometime in early to mid March so the chosen testers will be among the very first consumers to put them through the paces.  Your job as testers will be to test these from off the tee all the way though holing out that putt for birdie.....hey the season is young, we're full of optimism here!

      As many of us know Bridgestone Golf has had an interesting last 24 months, they have practically disappeared from the equipment side of things, signed Tiger Woods as it's marquee ball endorser.   They have been all over with ball sales and promotions, and have left many to wonder exactly how well if at all they are doing financially.  Then there was the curious Premium Box Set offering announced a couple months ago.
       
      Well all of the above possibly or possibly not let to the dismissal of the  CEO Angel IIagan in late May.
       
      Bridgestone is bringing back the very highly respected Dan Murphy as the CEO and President. Read more about him and his background in the press release.  I think this is a great move and can't wait to see what it means for the brand. 
       
      I'm sure our very own John Barba and or Tony Covey will have a great blog piece about what this means in the short and long term.
