Fireinthehole
I have a question for you club builders here. my situation- I really like the project x shaft, I have an iron set with 6.5, 1.) If I wanted to put these in wedges would I be essentially buying a 9- iron shaft. 2.) Would i need to go up to a 7.0 to keep the heavier head of a wedge vs an iron from softening up too much? 3.) I currently am using KBS Shafts and I am not a fan of the swing weight- boy do they feel Smmoooooooth though. I have tried the dynamic gold wedge shaft- S200's maybe? They feel comfortable, but do spin too much at times. Want to know if anyone has done something similar either with Project X shafts in wedges or even C tapers. hckymeyer
I use C Tapers in my wedges, I've done 8i shafts of the same flex rating as wedges and liked them. I've also done parallel tip shafts and had my builder frequency match the ones in my irons. Also liked those. I'm not really sure I can tell the difference. Yes you would just buy the 9i shaft, or you could go 8i shaft to try and get a little more spin. I am not a fan of the KBS wedge shaft or Dynamic gold's feeling on full shots with wedges. I was also just noticing that the KBS shaft that is in my Sand and Lob wedge is about 1/2 longer than the vokey wedges I have though they aren't any longer distance wise. RookieBlue7
The 9 iron and wedge shaft are the same. If you put an 8 iron shaft in them, you're soft stepping once. There are very minute few exceptions where manufacturers make a wedge shaft, but they're very few. You can go up 1 flex and use an 8 iron shaft as a spinner shaft. I was thinking that would be best because for the most part gw is used for full shots so use a straight in 9i 7.0, and SW & LW are split maybe 60/40 full to partial for the sw, and 40/60 for the LW so use an 8i for those. I thought I read that you go down a flex and soft step it to make it a spinner, that's how I had my wedges until recently. Kor.A.Door
Or"how do you know you had a good putt? When you pick up out of the hole. I used to play golf with some old guys, and one of them had a one liner for everything, mostly dumb like this one, but it kept the round from being to boring.
