I tried using drywall fiberglass tape for shaft shims.  well it worked but it's kinda hard to stick the tape to the tip of the shaft.  I used two cuts of tapes to put a .335 shaft into a .350 driver.   It's kinda hard to stick the second tape to the first tape.  Does anyone have any tip how to do this properly?

Shafting beads can help to take up some of the "slack" if the hosel is a tad loose. I would always err on the side of proper shims in the first instance, although I have tried the scrim tape (and it works ok) in the past. For a nice snug fit, the beads mixed into the epoxy will provide the last few microns of spacing required to get a nice flush fit.

Unless it is an emergency job, why not buy a proper shim/ferrule adapter from Golfworks?

People have been using drywall tape for years, from garage tinkerers to well respected builders.  They're perfectly fine.  I've cut my own rom aluminum cans before too.  Works fine.

I'll get 8 shims out of an old coke can, other beverage cans will do. Make sure to clean and roughen up both sides. Been assembling clubs for years with no issues.

I can use drywall tape faster than prepping the precut shims (after cutting half the flaps off of them).
