My first tee shot to start a round has to be the "right" "randomly" picked ,1 of 3 in my pocket, golf ball.. I may have to randomly pick more than once.

No real superstitions, but I tend to to the same things before a round always the same from

warming up in a particular order with my clubs or eating/drinking the same thing just before I tee off.

Not sure if this is a superstition or just a personality quirk - but I can play with long fingernails.  Always try to trim just before a round.  If I forget - I wind up chewing them down while driving to the course, other wise it bugs me the entire round.

I keep a nail clipper in my cart, you might have to get one for the bag!

I wouldn't call them superstitions per say, but I may have a few.

One tee and the ball in left pocket.  Ball marker and divot repair tool in right pocket.  Nothing else can be in my pockets.  Always mark my ball the same way.  If I'm on a run playing good golf I'll also wear the same boxers for each round (washed between rounds) and try to wear the same headwear be it visor or hat.  I also feel like I tend to play better when I wear my wedding ring.

Oh boy I shouldn't have gotten started on this thread...I have nothing in my left pocket, two tees and two quarters in my right pocket and the rest of the pockets are empty. But inside of 100 yards I'll take my glove off and put it in my back left pocket. If I hit a bad tee shot I'll switch that tee out for a different one or just toss it if it was a really poor shot (because obviously it was the tees fault not mine).

It doesn't matter what I do; I've tried everything.  If I have a great round, I do everything the same next time but it doesn't work, so I guess I am not superstitious.  I thought that maybe I just need to do things different every time, and that doesn't work either.

Haha I have to do the same thing. I just finished clipping them before reading this. Also when I used a quarter to mark my ball the face always had to look at the hole.

1 ball, 1 large plastic tee, 1 small plastic tee in back right pocket, and ball marker and divot tool in front right pocket always.

Always clean grooves and wipe clubs after every shot before going back into bag. Clean ball after every hole.

Mine is never wearing my socks to the course. I always wear my saddles with no socks. Then put my shoes and socks on when I arrive. Recently I've stopped keeping extra balls in my pocket. It started with something my coach said that keeping an extra ball meant I expected to need it.

Great advice.  Along the lines of never grab a junk ball for a hard shot over a hazard or water.  Always play a good ball because it gives you that extra bit of caring/skin in the game for your result.  Makes you concentrate a little bit harder on that shot.

It's not because of superstition, but I prefer not having freshly clipped nails - just don't like the feel. I always try to clip them at least a day or two in advance. It's not just for golf, I feel the same way about anything that involves working with my hands whether it's yard work, working on the house, etc...

This is fresh!  I love it.  For me it's a preference, if it doesn't fall out this way so be it but let's just say that my wife will never leave my change drawer with fewer than two quarters in it.

I always start the round with two quarters, three tees and a spare ball in my right pocket with nothing in my left pocket.  I have one additional ball in the cart or a convenient spot in the bag if I'm walking.  I never use one of the three tees for anything other than driver (I use 31/4 inch tees).  I do keep a short tee in a convenient spot just in case I can't find a broken tee on the box.  I fix ball marks with a new tee (I know that I should use a repair tool but I'm very good with a tee.)

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

Always have to wear a hat. Going hatless results in awful rounds. My ballmarkers are all either a NJ quarter (hometown), 1976 drummer quarters or various .50 or 1 dollar coins, including a Sacajawea coin that I forgot they tried getting us to use.

After every round I point to the sky say thank you and point to the holes and give myself a little fist pump. Just my way of saying thanks to everyone who allowed me the opportunity to play golf (my family) and remembering the round for the right reasons.

2 tees, a quarter, and divot tool in the right pocket, nothing in the left, glove goes in the back left when I'm putting. I wear the same shirt/hat combo at every course I play, and a few extras for practicing and tournaments etc. Always have my sunglasses on the back of my hat unless I need them. I also clean my club before it goes back in the bag. Bogey balls go back in the bag. Birdie balls get cleaned and used on the next tee. No matter what ball I'm using any particular day I will always putt with a pro v1.

The ball you tee off with on a hole must be the one you finish the hole with, unless you lost that ball and/or properly substituted another:  Rule 15-1.  Using a different ball to putt with is loss of hole in match play or a two-stoke penalty in stroke play.  Be careful.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Kenny I actually played in a tournament several years ago and a guy tried to pull out a "putting ball" on me. LOL He acted shocked that I even cared. Makes you wonder what else he might have gotten away with. Haven't seen him since.

I used to carry multiple balls in my back pocket till a friend of mine told me I was anticipating losing or needing the other ball, keep the extra ball in the bag or cart, to be honest with you since then I've hardly lost or need another ball during a round, I know it's more mental than anything but has worked for me.

I usually get a couple rounds out of a ball before I lose it....LOL  Ever since I was a Kid, I always had an extra ball in my pocket......so i wouldn't slow the round up by having to dig into my bag for an extra...just something I have done for over 50 years.
