Cleveland smart sole

I have the Smart Sole Sand Wedge 58* and I love it.  Very easy to hit out of the bunkers.

I don't really have any cons for it.

Pros:

For some people, it will work. For the rest of the golfing population, thankfully there are better alternatives like normal wedges, ability and finesse.

Cons:

Some people will actually think these are better alternatives than normal wedges, ability and finesse. And practice too, quite possibly.

I tell you, there are days I wish I had a set of these...

I think these are great if you want help with your wedge game -- especially from the sand.  Golf should be fun, right? Better to be out of the sand and somewhere in the vicinity of the pin rather than still in the sand or 40 yards over the green.  Sure, the glib response is to get better, have more ability, etc...but if you're just in it to have fun, I've heard nothing but good things about these.

This is basically what that infomercial XE1 wedge is as well......So with the smart sole, do you still open the club face in the sand?  I would actually consider the 58*

Sure everyone would love to practice more, play 200 times a year and spend 2 hours a night at the range...unfortunately some people have families and jobs....HOW DARE THEY

I used to carry the 58* smart sole wedge....out of the sand it was almost cheating, and for 20-30 yard pitch shots it was “point and shoot”.

Hell, I've thought about dragging it out several times recently

Because of the flange you can't really open the face, you line it up square to the target and swing....you don't get as much spin as a wide open 58* wedge, but when you struggle to get out of bunkers, backspin isn't your biggest concern.

When I first put it in the bag I holed out a chip or bunker shot every other round on average.

Maybe some folks think it's a "gimmick" club.  It's not a gimmick and I've had three people buy one after seeing the results with mine.  I'm gaming the Cleveland CBX 56 for now.  It's a great club too however if I start having issues, I can always fall back and rely on my S wedge.

I have this club.  Overall, I like it a lot.  I am able to hit decent shots with it from even thin lies.  It does not work that well if you like to open up your wedge.  Also, it does not produce a lot of spin.

When I'm feeling good about a partial shot, I favor my other wedges.  When I don't feel so good, I pull this one out of the bag.

Another thing.  This is the club you want to use when attempting that ill-advised pitch shot from a terrible lie in the crap (sticks, leaves, long weeds, shrubs) after you put one over the green.
