J_Wurz
I think it depends on the ball type. Usually not much. I'd ask the range guys if they are flighted balls. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy mobile app
Kenny B
I am sure each brand may be a little different, but the Range Servant golf ball dispenser advertises 80% ball flight. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

It was probably a hack who did not know any better. But to answer 808s original question with standard range balls I have found generally at least 15%. BTW Fozzy a floater is non-conforming because of it's weight it weighs substantually less than a standard ball. We weighed one compared to a Pro V one day up at my buddy's shop. revkev
It truly depends as there are lots of different types of range balls out there. The other factor is that they are seriously abused, left outside in all types of elements so how new they are matters. Generally speaking a fresh, standard range ball flies about the same distance as a normal ball. But not every ball in your bucket is going to be fresh. DanUsh
Range balls can be bought in different percentages. Where I work we have Srixon that are 90% flight and we will tell you. If a range has room for full flight they may carry that or have 80% depending. Jmikecpa
Depends on the range ball. Yesterday was nil for me since the club I played and new ProV1s on the range. EthanSterlingPrice
I never trust range ball distances, only use them for grooving my swing and practicing mechanics. If I'm doing distances I prefer to use one of the ball models I'd play with on the course. Don't get me wrong, range balls are an invaluable tool for practice so I'm not saying I don't use them, I just don't use them for working on distances. I'm sure there are range balls that hit pretty similar to normal balls but pretty sure my course doesn't have them. revkev
I actually only test my distances on the course. I check relative distance on the range - 9 iron is going longer than 8, etc. But to get my actual distances I use the course with the ball that I normally would use. Generally I can do that now on my course, but I still check because the greens are between 15-40 yards deep and the tee boxes are up to 20 yards long. sp0rtsfan86
Generally I can do that now on my course, but I still check because the greens are between 15-40 yards deep and the tee boxes are up to 20 yards long. They move the pins AND the tee boxes every other day. Our tee box is pretty short so that's pretty much a given. Pin location is tougher. If it's front on this particular hole, it's a 3/49, middle or back I play 8 iron. I've been tempted to hit 7 if it's in the back but scared that the ball would go off the green and be left with a downhill chip.
