I am sure each brand may be a little different, but the Range Servant golf ball dispenser advertises 80% ball flight.

We found a Floater ion the course today......so my Buddy hit his regular drive, then hit the Floater.....The Floater only traveled about 75% of the regular ball distance.....we wondered who was using it on the course....LOL.

It was probably a hack who did not know any better. But to answer 808s original question with standard range balls I have found generally at least 15%. BTW  Fozzy a floater is non-conforming because of it's weight it weighs substantually less than a standard ball. We weighed one compared  to a Pro V one day up at my buddy's shop. Funny thing is what bets and arguments get started on a rainy day around a golf shop

It truly depends as there are lots of different types of range balls out there. The other factor is that they are seriously abused, left outside in all types of elements so how new they are matters. Generally speaking a fresh, standard range ball flies about the same distance as a normal ball. But not every ball in your bucket is going to be fresh.

Range balls can be bought in different percentages. Where I work we have Srixon that are 90% flight and we will tell you. If a range has room for full flight they may carry that or have 80% depending.

Depends on the range ball. Yesterday was nil for me since the club I played and new ProV1s on the range. At my club we use 100% flight balls that I think are Titleist NXT Tours.

I never trust range ball distances, only use them for grooving my swing and practicing mechanics. If I'm doing distances I prefer to use one of the ball models I'd play with on the course. Don't get me wrong, range balls are an invaluable tool for practice so I'm not saying I don't use them, I just don't use them for working on distances. I'm sure there are range balls that hit pretty similar to normal balls but pretty sure my course doesn't have them.

I actually didn't realize this, how do you guys go about testing real distances then, except for on the course?

I go out to the range in the evenings when no one is out there with my own balls and hit to targets or set up some targets in a field to hit towards.

I actually only test my distances on the course.  I check relative distance on the range - 9 iron is going longer than 8, etc.  But to get my actual distances I use the course with the ball that I normally would use.

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

Everyone around here hawks balls especially retirees. I will buy some grade B or C balls and use them and I will mark them usually the range guys will cull them out for me. Of course those guys I will change out a grip or something for them

Game golf is a great tool. Plus on course laser ranging pins and the like helps. I've played my course so much that on par 3's I just grab a club based on pin location rather than laser ranging it. I love nothing more than hitting a shot to pin high just based on course knowledge.

Generally I can do that now on my course, but I still check because the greens are between 15-40 yards deep and the tee boxes are up to 20 yards long.  They move the pins AND the tee boxes every other day.

Our tee box is pretty short so that's pretty much a given. Pin location is tougher. If it's front on this particular hole, it's a 3/49, middle or back I play 8 iron. I've been tempted to hit 7 if it's in the back but scared that the ball would go off the green and be left with a downhill chip.
