You are just not "hooking it" right...

I am a pro at the low hook and it is one shot I can hit anytime any hole.

Even their pro series, particurarly the mini was hard to turn over at times, when paired with the proper shaft.

Add the new Cally Apex as well. Stock it is tough to turn over.

I used to have a Srixon u45 18* in the bag and really liked it. Recommend it if you're looking for something playable off the tee.

If there were more available here I would have tried it, Especially because this Mizunos sole is freaking huge.

Agreed. I've been debating looking at the UDI 1 iron lately for that exact reason. It won't feel as good or be as forgiving but I feel it would be more playable from the deck.

I was looking at it, and Callaways Apex utility, Titelist TMB, and Srixon's, but they are so hard to find in my area

 

Also found the link to an older story on this site. That callway X utility prototype looks so interesting!

Near impossible to find the 18* on ebay right now, but might grab the 4i replacement...

Its probably a consistent 245-260 club for me when I'm playing my normal "fairway finder" 10-20 yard fade. If i want to jump on one and hit it straight or with a baby draw then I can get 260-280 on it depending on the roll/contact. I have't tried any forced carries with it yet now that I have the new shaft in, and wasn't about to try that out in a tournament. 

 

Edit: The Snell probably spins a bit more than the zstars. I find the Zstars to not be overly high spinning for a tour ball. More spin than B330 and RZN black but less than the rest. 

The Srixon Soft Feels spin better for me than the newer Z-Stars. I have not messed with the Snell Balls I got from a pro friend of mine yet had too many irons in the fire dialing in and grinding a gap wedge for me

The X Utility Proto is solid. I have the 21* and 24* in my travel set.

Hows it off the fairway? With the harder fairways this time of year this Mizunos sole is not wanting to take a divot.

Performs well off the fairway. I sweep these a bit more so not sure about taking a divot, but overall solid all around.

Interesting, some of these are pretty cheap online, will have to pick a 24* up. 

 

Been picking the ball lately getting back to my flatter swing habits. It was pull city yesterday. Too long a swing = pulls + 7i going 180+ and other clubs going too far.

I bought my friend an old Ping 1 iron for Christmas last year. He's a big hitter and has trouble hitting a 3 wood. With the 1 he hits a few fat if he thinks too much, but when he gets ahold of one, it's nice.

It's a good training aid for the range. Really it does help groove your swing.

The Taylormade UDI #1 is best used as a driving iron off the tee, but is surprisingly easy to hit off the deck!...

Was messing around one day with a buddy on the course. Each of us dropped a ball by the 250 marker out on a par 5.Told him swing smooth sand don't worry where it goes mantra. We both used 5 iron and felt no pressure. I hit mine 20 yards short and he hit his front edge.Easily my longest 5 iron I can ever recall with no effort applied but a bunt feeling

Easily felt like I swung at 10 mphs swing speed

 

 

This game has a ton to do with mind over matter and letting the club do the work IMHO.
