Just curious as to what golfers eat on the course, e.g. power bar, beef jerky, banana, apples...

Usually play after a rich breakfast, so I eat a banana around the 6th hole

Then have a light sandwich for lunch

Some candy/power bar/chocolate around the 14th hole (final stretch to avoid sugar drop)

And some nuts in between

I usually bring an apple and/or a banana as well as an house blend of peannuts with dried cranberries and dark chocolate. I also like other type of dried fruit as they are easy to grab and go and they pack a punch

Always have 2litres of water (walk and carry)

I don't usually, but I'm going to start taking dried banana chips with me. I usually take a large container of water but having read another thread I'm going to add Nuun tabs to it.

It depends on what part of the day I am playing and if it is right after a meal.  I will always bring water and a Gatorade.  In the morning I will bring a banana and a protein bar.   Afternoon rounds a protein bar, granola bar, or crackers.  And if i am really hurting i will grab a hot dog at the turn.  I usually try to go with protein and complex carbs to avoid any sudden drops in energy.

I have a steady supply of Cliff bars in my bag.  Maybe a banana at the turn on a warmer day, which we have not had many of this season.

No joke. We had better weather in April.

Played two weekends ago back to back rounds with 60 mph gusts and a constant 40 mph wind. Played Saturday in 30 mph winds and some rain. May has not been that much better in my neck of the woods.

Same here. Not quite as much wind but solid 50s and rain most of May.

Been nice weather down here other than strong winds every weekend. As for snacks, I usually don't each much, or try to eat before the round. Usually some fruit or a fruit and nut bar holds me over.

Appreciate the responses, reason I'm asking is because by the time I'm on the 14th hole I always feel worn out. I walk the course with my cart so it really can't be that, maybe I'll try to spread out the snacks (granola bar) every 4 holes. Or maybe it's just from the slow pace of play...lol. Has anyone tried 5 hour energy? Wonder if it'll make me jittery.

I agree, weather has been really awful lately here in North Jersey. Seems like the rain gods know whenever I'm off to play golf.

Personally i would stay clear of 5brs Energy and any type of Energy drinks. The high level of caffein and other chemicals could make you jittery and have many unwanted side effects on your game (saw it affect distance control, bad case of putting jitters, decision making ...)

Dark chocolat and raisins with water are a good alternative.-

I would agree.  Also not something that you should drink on a hot day.

Today I had beef jerky some pretzels and a piece of fruit. I also drank an amino acid type of drink during the front 9 and water on the back. I used to just have water and normally by the end of the round on a hot day I'd have a splitting headache. Today by the end of the round I was feeling like I could play more. That's the first time it's ever happened.
