My Stage 3 is up........the final piece of the F6 iron review.

Foz... I know you are  a big fan of these as you've told in a few conversations.  

 

When our Cobra Rep was at the shop last week, he had the new F7 One's and the One Forged.   I got to hit them both on the range, granted niether had the ideal shaft for me, the F7 had too soft of shaft and the One Forged had a too stout shaft...kind of like Goldilocks and the porridge...ha.  Anyway, I was a bit disappointed in the results of the F7 as they just weren't as consistent in the direction and distance as I would have thought.    The One Forged however were solid and had a flight pretty much like what I'm seeing now out of my AP1, maybe a tad lower.

 

So I hope to get more time with both in the coming month or so.   As a 17 HC I always look to forgiveness first, or maybe I'm just becoming a better ball striker than I thought and able to handle the One Forged.  Yeah, let's go with that...ha   But it was a surprising result for my first go with either ne.

Thanks CG2,  I was perfectly content with the Bio Cell irons after I reshafted them with the Project X 5.0 graphite shafts.  I get to see them every week as I gave them to my golf Buddy.  He is hitting them well.  However, since the release of the F6 with the 4 different club designs, I found that I like the new ones even more.  Last summer I was able to score a 33 on the back nine with 5 birdies......that was because I was dialed in with the Cobra irons.  I just know that I can do that again...

I've integrated the 5 iron into my bag over the last few months, although begrudgingly. I've been using it as a rescue club of sorts, punching out low from trouble or the occasional stinger from the tee box. Still had to work a bit of lead tape into the equation to get the results I wanted, but it outed my Srixon U45 once it was all said and done.

I don't currently have a 5i in my bag - been considering adding one....

 

My 5 now is the Ping Crossover (24°) - and have sorta been looking at utility irons like the Srixon U45, maybe the Cobra King OS, etc.

You have both a 4i @ 20° and a hybrid @ 21°...?

 

Do you get much different yardages out of each, or are they for different situations?

The 4i gets me 170-180 yards, but I use it mostly to punch out from under trees for 75 to 160 yard shots. The 4H is used in open fairway for 170 yard shots to the green or tee shots on dogleg par fours.

Just A note to let you know that the F6 irons are still in my bag! They are spot on for performance and keeping me in the game.

Good to hear you're still playing them. I want to give the Cobra F7 One length's a trial. I love the look of the Pro Kings, but gotta be honest with myself and what would actually be good for me.

I am also still bagging the F6 irons and loving them. I do feel, however, that the F6 set was forgotten about with the quick release of the King Oversize and the many variations of the F7. Such is the equipment game, I suppose. Go out and get some F6s on sale if you can.

Still gaming the f6 myself. Probably my favorite irons for a while. I was always a pro combo fan but I needed more forgiveness. The f6 is the iron for that, I use these babies just like my pro combos. I work them but they give me forgiveness I needed. Love these guys.

No, sorry. Love the irons and got them with the stock FST steel.

(But now I'm finding that I'm liking lighter shafts and am considering swapping those for Recoil 460 ES)

Mine were Matrix Red Tie graphites, regular. They played great . Currently they are in my closet, replaced by Hogan Ptx irons with Recoil 660 shafts.

Thanks guys. I have a set coming in the stock regular graphite. I just couldn't resist for the price. I'm a little nervous on what I've read about them being very light. In my mind I usually associate that with cheap quality, but I'll know soon enough.
