dumpybutz
WOW, Chris those are Old School!! Great set of Irons though! My best bud still wishes he had his Maxfli VHL clubs....but unfortunately they were stolen along with his car. How he played with thos licorice red shafts I'll never know, but yes, the heads were nice. Old Dunlop clubs were a great profile.

SunsetBeachCustomPutters
My best bud still wishes he had his Maxfli VHL clubs....but unfortunately they were stolen along with his car. How he played with thos licorice red shafts I'll never know, but yes, the heads were nice. Old Dunlop clubs were a great profile. I grabbed a set of VHL's with the red graphite on Ebay awhile back and pulled the shafts. I think I ended up putting them in a set of irons for a coworker(that he loves). I liked them because the headweight was higher(without lead tape) and allowed me to grind on them a bit to fix bounce issues and get the swingweight right where I wanted them. This is the set I still play today. I have my original set still in the garage on a rack with the scorecard from Ocean Harbor where I tied the course record of 62 the weekend before.(This was Many, Many, Many moons ago) I have tried Ping i/3, Titleist AP2, Mizuno MP14, Cleveland TA3/1 combo set, Ping s irons, Taylor Made 300, TM RAC, Callaway X Tours and a few others I cannot remember and nothing has taken their place. Of course the J38's I have coming(end of march) I think will be the first real contender I have had. This is the first set of irons I have been truly excited for since my TA 845's I had before the VHL's. I have plenty of SSB's in the oil rubbed bronze plating, and a couple in the antique brass polymer. Not sure which one you are referencing.
