New Driver Time

Recommended Posts

Too many rude and clueless 'snakes' here whose only agenda is to 'bash and trash' with nothing the least bit constructive to add to the thread, (like maybe their own driver recommendation).  They are certainly easy to spot!

Then again, maybe these venomous 'snakes' visit every TM driver discussion here.  The snakes reveal also themselves via the same sort of rude 'bash and trash' behavior in other threads just as we have seen in this thread.  It is both funny and sad to see such totally clueless comments used as feeble attempts to refute sincere and credible posts. Why should anyone even want to embarrass himself by pretending to have knowledge about a piece of equipment that he has never played, has no experience with, and knows nothing about?

These bad behavior comments are also aimed at those of you who apparently lack basic English language skills. Do you hear me on that topic 'Undershooter30' and 'Joey East Coast'?  Must you address the membership here as "Bruh"? like you are from 'the hood'?  (As if other snakes, who prefer to begin every post with "Dude' wasn't already bad enough!).

The rude snakes here like to 'bite', but I refuse to let their rudeness get under my skin, because in the end, these 'snakes' will reap their just reward soon enough!  Their clueless posts and outright lies will not stand up to scrutiny over time. Eventually the thread's readers who actually do care about the subject matter will learn the truth, thereby destroying the credibility of these misinformation-spreading snakes, (if indeed the snakes ever had credibility on this forum to begin with)...

So, Bye-Bye venomous Snakes!...You and this thread are not worth my time, and I have no further desire to share actual knowledge and experience with such crude, closed-minded, people.  You can just bite on each other now!.. B)

I can't ever remember one time where Rev and Jmike were insulted at the same time. I must be missing something

Just for the record, I'm not a Taylormade fan but game the M1 driver, SLDR mini driver, and M1 5 wood.

I now understand why you are so 'clueless' about the SLDR-C Driver.  This post explains it quite well!..You've clearly 'settled' for the G30!..

Dude.... you are one that is clueless. NONE of the people that have posted in this thread have a damn thing against you or Taylormade. They are trying to tell you that the "C" version of this driver is a big box store version, that  is sold to the masses. You obviously have found success with it. Great! That doesn't mean the people telling you the truth don't "get it" or "don't have a clue".  I personally HAVE HIT IT. I think it sucks! So what!? Are you really that offended that the majority of posters on here disagree with you? Get the f**k over it!!!

Bobcat I'm going to try and put an end to this. Regardless of what you've done or haven't done I have had made several posts that poked fun at your equipment choice. I'm sorry about those and am glad the club works for you.

It's clearly not a club that people who go for fittings will be given as an option to try and so I've not tried it. I've seen it and it's not appealing to my eye and therefore there is very little chance that I will hit it well. My loss I'm sure. Continued success with yours perhaps we will meet someday and you'll allow me to hit it. Who knows maybe you'll gain a convert.

And with over 2000 posts I guess I add nothing. Well played.

And I actually did not bash TM but said the driver was a lower quality product for the masses, which is what it was designed for.

I asked the Asst. Pro at my club about the driver and he confirmed the same. I guess he is clueless as well but then again he is only on staff with TM and a master TM fitter so what would he know???

Look man I personally have nothing against you or your driver other than the fact that ITS ALL YOU EVER POST ABOUT. I'm glad you like it but it doesn't change the fact that its a big box store release. Even the guy at Dicks told me it's not worth looking at and it's his job to push drivers on people. In this one post you picked a fight with 2 very respected forum members and that's honestly the only reason I ever posted in the first place. This is a community. One in which your welcomed to stay and contribute but common man mention something other than the SLDR-C.

And just for the record, people don't like being called clueless, idiots or uninformed. Especially when they may not actually be so... You have gotten off to a very bad start here. I hope things go better going forward.

Bobcat, don't form Opinions on people from this thread alone, I've had many disagreements on many subjects over the years here, and the dispute that you have had with the Rev and Jmike is no different from any that I've had with other members, I think what should happen here is just to agree that you all disagree on the subject, there is nothing wrong with that, i hope you stick around and contribute, there are a lot of good people here and the Rev and Jmike are 2 very good ones, and we all learn a lot from them, just like we can learn from you. Anyway enough rambling, stick around.

Well, I hit a few drivers in store along with my trusty old Nickent. Mate who owns the shop was pretty blunt, gave me a Calloway Big Bertha but said "You probably won't hit it any better than your current one, spin is slightly better, but not likely any significant improvement" My carry with both was 220m, which is pretty close to real life.

I played a few holes, bumped into a mate in the car park, who grabbed his now redundant Ping G25 and told me to give it a go too.

Blocked my first hit (no warm up) with Nickent, hit the others solid, and about 5 yards from each other. Course was very wet after 1 1/2 inches of rain.

Rotated clubs around on the next few tees, to try and be fair. Ping and BB were very consistent for distance. I hit the Nickent straighter, and flushed one that was 40m past the other 2 (290ish yards )

Looks like I'll be keeping old faithful.

Just thought I would remind everyone of the My Golf Spy Moral Codes...........these can be viewed by selecting the Tab at the top of the page entitled "Moral Codes"

Here they are for your review....

The Freedom of Speech Golf Forum is Here!

  • The members are what make a great forum.
  • We want you to be able to express your opinions.
  • Ask questions and share what you know.
  • Just a few simple moral codes we hope you follow below.

1. Avoid abusive language...try to look in the thesaurus for another word  ;)

2. Obviously this is a golf forum so political, religious and race comments would be better on a different kind of forum.

3. No reason for personal attacks fellas...remember this is just a golf forum and there honestly is no reason for them. We always encourage personal opinions. Just make sure not to criticize someone else for theirs.

4. Keep the porn posts on the porn sites...the MGS forum is obviously not the right place for it.

5. Product Advertising - (PLEASE READ) this is a touchy subject and one not easy to moderate for companies that advertise with any forum. I have thought about this and consulted with many companies about how we can resolve this and make it beneficial for all involved (advertisers & members). The MGS forum wants EVERYONE to feel like they can be a part of this forum and I encourage all companies to take part. In the end it will only make for a better forum and better content for the members. And therefore our forum will not turn away any Non-Advertising companies from posting like other forums do. However...we are sure you understand that it is not to fair to have the exact same posting privileges as a Advertiser on the forum. So we have come up with the following criteria which we feel both encourages both Non-Advertiser educational posting and promotes the Advertisers product promotions.

ADVERTISERS - Will be able to post promotional info, run contests, post both pre-product and current product release photos, display contact info (with banners), provide educational posts, promote coupons and discounts to members and highlight new product releases.

NON-ADVERTISERS - Will be able to post any and all educational type posts and also display contact info in your signature (without banners).

A question for bobcat whenever he pops in. I was at the range today and see a bag with all TMagclubs in it including what looked like a SLDR C from a distance. If it was it's the first time I've noticed one in a bag. Is there any chance that you love in St Pete and were at Mangrove Bay Golf course today?

Got a 10.5 and 12.5 degrees for about $40 each, and a Grafalloy Epic shaft for $20 from Rockbottom about 6 years ago. I'm still playing the 10.5 and my daughter plays the 12.5 with the V2 Prolaunch reg shaft that came with it.

All up it cost about $120 after swapping in the epic. I've tried to find an upgrade, but nothing seems to be able to do it.

I think the head is solid, but the shaft seems to be perfect for me. It would be interesting to hit a new head with an epic shaft to see if results improve.

Foz we must have the same angle of attack lol. At the demo day I had it set to 12 and the ball flight was perfect. Can't wait to break it in. My TourEdge still kicks major butt. Haven't decided if I am going to keep or sell it.

I just bought a Cobra king Ltd. I tried one out at a demo day earlier this year and fell in love with it. It was between the bb alpha 816 or the king and the king took it. Cannot wait to get it.

My 2nd favorite driver that came out this year.  If I wasn't gaming the M1, the LTD would be in the bag for me

I didn't hit it. My brothers came with me and they hit it and didn't like the feel. They were left unimpressed. We liked the bb alpha 816 and the king Ltd.

I've recently bought the new Cobra King LTD and really love it. It produces a slightly lower, more penetrating ball flight that tends to get a bit more roll than I did previously.

It's a more reasonable price than the Titleist, TaylorMade and Callaways if you would prefer to spend a little bit less.

Definitely worth testing out at your local golf shop.

I've got a bit of free time today, so I'll be looking to try out a few drivers. I'm pretty interested in the new Titliest driver (917, I think it's called), King Cobra LTD & F6 and the Callaway DBD, as I've never hit them before.

Driver: Cobra F9 Speedback (9.0) with Fujikura Atmos 7X (Avalanche White)

3 Wood: Callaway Epic Sub-Zero (15 degrees) in Rogue Max 75g stiff shaft

Hybrid: Callaway Apex 20 degree with Kurokage 80g Stiff Shaft

Irons: Wilson Staff CB 4-PW in KBS 120 Stiff shafts

Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM6 - 50

              Callaway MD4 - 56 & 60 degrees

Putter: Taylormade TP Collection Soto

Golf Ball: Titliest Pro V1 and Srixon Z-Star
