sp0rtsfan86
This may sound like a weird question but I'm curious and I wanted to know if there's a big difference in us. So it's simple how often or just how do you clean your clubs. Do you pull a pro and after every shot clean the grooves and wash it down or does your car receive a more frequent wash then the clubs? Or does the guy at your course do that for you? On the course I'm pretty much neglectful. Hit the shot, club goes in bag. Only clean the groovesif I hit it fat or with a sand shot and the grooves are non existent. If they see a towel a bad shot had to be involved. My golf towel on the bag sees little to no use. But after every round I give them the full spa treatment. I use the club brush beforehand, then use a wet towel to clean everything out and separate dry towel to get all the junk out. The wedges specifically the lob get the full treatment, with the groove cleaner (the little spike thing) being used. It takes probably 10-15 minutes but it's a relaxing and fun routine for a Saturday and/or Sunday night. Driver: Epic Flash 12 Degree Wood: GBB 3 Wood Hybrid: Razr 4 hybriid stiff stock shaft. chershey
I try to clean mine before I'm going to play a round. I do really focus on keeping the grooves clean during the round though. I think studies have shown that you lose some spin if your grooves are full of dirt, grass, and grit. Of course this weekend, I played three rounds on dirt slow greens that had just been aerated. Maybe I should have purposely left the grooves filthy so the ball would release. I had to start chipping with an 8 iron to get the ball to go anywhere or just fly it all the way to the hole. Anyway, like I said, I clean my clubs just to make sure I'm still spinning the ball. jrmull
I check after each shot, but just use a dry towel to wipe if some dirt/grass stick, but I generally give them a full cleaning after each round. Usually just use water, a rag, and an old toothbrush for the grooves, numbers, etc... Sometimes I will put a little dish soap in the water. Of course I always rinse and dry the clubs too. hckymeyer
Frogger brush and a wipe with a towel after every shot. Then we also have a cleaner on our range. It's like a shoe shine spin brush over a big tank of water. 2 big brushes spin, one for irons and a soft one for woods. I clean any club I used on the range with that and then maybe once a month give them all a good scrub with that machine. They all stay pretty clean though since I do it after every shot. jlew2144
Ok I don't feel so bad now after reading the responses. I thought I might be a little OCD with my club cleaning. I clean after each shot, after every round even if I'm playing 2 in one day. I've treated all sports equipment the same way. I treat the clubs like I do my wife, treat them well and eventually they are going to come around and knock one stiff.
