After most shots I clean them and then after each round

After every shot with a Frogger brush and wet towel. Then about once a week I give them a bath. I don't clean my grips near as much as I should, currently about once a month. I just love the look of a clean club face behind the ball.

I just came upon this thread, so apologize for being late to the party. I clean each club after each shot, and bathe them after every round including the grips. I don't use a glove, so at least for me clean grips are important.

FWIW, I clean out the pockets in my bag after every round and wipe down the bag as well. My OCD doesn't extend to my most frequent playing partner, my brother. He tosses his bag in the trunk and they don't see the light of day until the next round. The most he will do is wipe off chunks of mud if the course is wet.

After every shot plus once a month full cleaning in the kitchen sink.

I'm with foz here.

I bring them into the sink and they get the soap and scrub down treatment.

I also give the grips a hit with windex. Brings them up nicely and gives some good tack

I got two lessons on club care way back when I was a kid. ...

Lesson #1) During a practice round, my high school coach, after watching me hit a shot to the green (with a dirty clubhead) that landed near the pin and then roll through the green, got out of his cart and walked over to me and walked over to me and said, "give me your club." He then pulled a broken off toothbrush out of his pocket, spit on the clubhead, hit it a couple of times with the toothbrush, wiped it off with the towel hanging from my bag, and then said, "hit it again." I can't say that I've hit two exact shots in a row over the years, but I did that day - and that second one dropped, and hoped, and stopped about 4 feet from the pin. He said, "my work here is done," got back in his cart and drove away. ... Lesson being, clean your grooves after every shot.

(Everybody has a towel clipped to their bag, keep it wet, and maybe a brush too. Use 'em.)

Lesson # 2) My home town used to host a PGA Tour event, that as a kid I used to work as a volunteer. And after a round I walked by the clubhouse, and one of the caddies was stooped alongside it next to a water faucet, with a bucket of soapy water, and he was meticulously washing the clubs, paying special attention to the grips. ... Lesson being, if the pros want their clubs cleaned after every round, maybe I should too.

(I may not wash the grips after every round, but once a month keeps that like-new feeling. And giving the head's a quick soaping and rinse in the sink after every round only takes a few minutes.)

Some of the best lessons in life are never spoken words, but actions from others... Great story RP58!

Playing in the wintter here on the wet side of Oregon, I carry multiple towels and clean up eveey s***. I do have to drop them in the sink or bucket every few weeks. When it dries out I keep a wet towel close. I take a quick brush to the grooves and look them over before every shot.

I clean my irons and wedges in soapy water after every round. I brush off my woods after every round.

I try to stay on top of keeping my grooves clean in the irons and wedges during a round but sometimes forget.

If you pay good money for the set, why not take good care of it? It's like your car... oil and fluid changes plus tire rotations regularly will keep it running longer.

That's a good point - I clean my clubs after every shot - but only cleaned my grips once. There was a post about a year ago on using bleachy white (the tire cleaner). Tried that but was concerned about the damage to the grips. I play enough rounds a years that I need to replace them annually anyway.

Did the bleachy white clean then up nice? Did you notice any damage to your grips? I usually switch mine out every year as well. I have the privilege of playing about 80 rounds a year if all goes well.

Lamkin GRIPES are fantastic to clean your grips. 2 GRIPES will do your whole set and they definitely get grime out and restore some tackiness to the grips. I try to wipe down with them 2 times a season or so to prolong grip life.

I don't think I've ever cleaned my grips, other than to wipe off with a dry towel occasionally when it's raining or a hot/sweaty day. And I don't change grips annually either. Guess I need to get in the habit of cleaning grips (much) more often...

I've never changed my grips. And I had never started cleaning my grips until this year.

I forget which pro said that it was one of the things that he saw most amateurs not do at the Pro-Ams that would actually make a difference. It was from some video on YouTube with a title like 5 Things Pros Do That Amateurs Don't. Something like that. Anyway, the pro mentioned that cleaning grips is something they do every day.

I do have a more relaxed grip now because the tackiness is back in my grips. So in that respect it has helped make a difference.

Here's a weird tale of living in an HOA:

I'm at the playground with the girls and one of the new neighbors comes up with his kids and we get introduced. After some pleasantries, he asks me "Hey, are you the one that loves golf?" I'm thinking, well yeah but why would you ask me that way? I must've been wearing my awkwardness on my face because he says "oh you probably think I'm weird but they (meaning the other neighbors) said there's a guy in the neighborhood that really loves golf and is always out there polishing his clubs. "

I guess I've been doing more club work than normal lately but I've honestly only given them a good garage cleaning about 3 times in the last year. To add to that, I hardly ever see people out in the street when I'm messing with the sticks.

Anyways, the new neighbor seems cool. It's the rest of them that I'm leery of 🤨

I was drilled early on about cleaning the club (or at least the face). I'll brush down the grooves before and after every shot with all but driver and I have a towel that stays damp for dirt and mud.

Off course they get a cleaning after rounds but not always practice sessions.

Can I also add that I think people would get longer lifespans out of grips if they would clean them every once in a while? I have people I play near weekly with that clean their grips less often than they buy them and wonder why they get messed up so quickly
