Hitting the ball longer now what do I do?

This year I'm hitting the ball 20-30 yards longer. But having a hard time scoring. I'm not used to being able to hit par 5 in two. I lost 30 pounds and can now turn on the ball. But l can't judge my length anymore. I was same length for 7 years. I love how I'm hitting the ball. But I still having hard time. For a 150 par 3 I would have hit a 6 iron. Now I can hit a 8... It sucks I hit it longer but play worse... Has anyone had this happen b4? Any tips?

Champagne problems

how is your dispersion pattern? Are you hitting it longer but all over the map? Just need some time to get used to your new distances and probably groove your new higher powered swing. You always get worse with a swing change before you get better.

Yup, it's just going to take a little time.

Another possibility is that your clubs are no longer the correct fit for you.  If you are hitting it two clubs longer you must be swinging much faster as well.  You might have to take a look at your equipment and see a fitter to find out if they are still correct.

Other than that, take some time to figure out how far you hit each club now.  Spend some time on a launch monitor to get a baseline or average of how far you hit each club.  Then if you have the ability to spend some time on the course drop a couple balls and verify those distances on actual course conditions with your own ball.

Once you are confident in how far you can hit each club the game gets much easier!

I'm sure it'll take some time to adjust to your new found distance and your new body physic, just need to be patient, I wish I had that problem...but congrats to you on losing 30 pounds and being healthier.

Happens to me every time that TaylorMade releases a new driver.  According to their claims I should be able to smooth one out past Sadlowski by now.

I'm hitting it with a lil draw. But I can't fade it anymore. It's crazy. I know it's a good thing but it just happened so fast.

While I've never had this happen through the bag I have with a driver. i went from a Taylor Made original one to the Titleist 907 D. Huge jump in distance where I was driving it through fairways and into all kinds of trouble. It took a month or so to make that switch.

Try thinking about each shot as if you had a 1 club wind at your back and see how that works. I've lived my entire golfing life without being able to hit a fade. In some ways it's way less complicated. :)

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

If you are getting that much more yardage,  yet your short game is not getting the job done, you may want to look at your shafts......possibly they are not strong enough for your swing speed.

I'm having this problem as well since I've fixed my extension and switched to graphite shafts. I agree it's a little perplexing and hard to commit to your new numbers. Still figuring it out, but one thing I've done is start hitting more choked down, controlled irons instead of going all out. I've decided to view the added power as a reason to focus more on precision, rather than just hitting a 155yd 8i because I can.

Yup. Just hit the range and zero your irons back in. I wrote my new distances on a index card and taped it to the back of a bag tag so I could refer to it if needed.

Good luck.
