Reynolds Plantation.. opps Lake Oconee

PlaidJacket

Recommended Posts

I'm already researching places to stay next year when me and some guys go to the Masters. Currently I have my sights set on Reynolds Plantation Lake Oconee. (I guess with their recent upgrades, investment, ownership, etc. they decided to succumb to political correctness. When will it end?) Anyway, the place looks like an excellent choice. I'm investigating some private homes to rent. I've found some that include golf privileges. By that I assume the owners can get you on the courses without having to stay at a resort owned property. We had similar privileges when we visited Pinehurst. For us it's always better to rent a private home.

Have any of you guys played the Reynolds courses? Any suggestions or tips. Any other courses in the area that should be played?

Thanks.

No, but I did see an ad for it in this month's golf magazine. Not sure which hole it shows, but it looks like a ball eater of a course. Very pretty with teeth.

Good luck

Thought I'd give this another shot today. I've been looking at rental homes again and reviewing the courses at Reynolds Plantation Lake Oconee. Anybody out there have any favorite course suggestions? I've read about them and looked at some photos and scorecards, etc.

We'll be playing three rounds on 3 different courses before we head over to Augusta for the Tuesday practice round.

Great Waters is my favorite of the ones I have played.  The Oconee course is the one at the Ritz Carlton and a great course, the Taylormade Kingdom it there too and is pretty awesome if you are needing any new clubs, I have been to both.  Reynolds Landing is the other that I have played and it is a fun tract but not quite up to the same standards as those two others I have played.

I have heard great things about the other courses at Reynolds and if you wish to play off site Cuscawillo is a great tract too.  If you play Reynolds Landing and like it The Harbor Club is right down the road and I like it better than RL.

Have fun, I know with you attending The Masters golf will be limited so if I were you and playing only 3 days I would play Great Waters, The Oconee Course and Reynolds National.   Enjoy!

Thanks for the advice! I'm making a note of your recommendations and putting them in my file for the trip. I think the green fees are jacked for Masters week! Figures.

They are, just about double for the week before and Masters week.  At least the tips stay the same, lol.

We have a friend who lives in Reynolds and we go down every year to visit.  All of the courses are wonderful to play , they all have great practice facilities and the food is fantastic.  You never have to leave the development .  The only course you will not be able to play unless you are with a member is the Creek Club.  If are able to get early morning tee times be prepared to play under 4 hours as the members do not tolerate slow play which is great. They also have a Taylor Made Kingdom if you want to get fitted.  If you know someone with a boat or can rent one for a day do that as you will be able to see a lot of the golf courses from the water and the beautiful homes.

Partially due to DawgDaddy and some other reviews and folks I've talked to we're set. We'll be playing Oconee, National, and Great Waters. In that order. We've also rented a nice home close to or maybe on the Landings course. I spoke a few weeks ago to a couple of Pros at two of the courses and they assured me the courses will be in great condition. One Pro said, "especially because of Masters week". He'd better be right as green fees are jacked that week. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

I have a friend with tickets that usually lets me go one day but I am never sure until a couple weeks before.  The day is usually Saturday but  could be any of the others too.  I had practice round tickets the past 2 years but drew a blank this time.  Have fun.

This is my second trip to the Masters. Previously was in 2008. Let me know if you score a ticket for Tuesday. Maybe we can meetup. I'll buy you a pimento cheese and a beer!

DawgDaddy hit the courses you want to play on the head. I played Oconne, National and The Preserve last year. I also did a full fitting at the Kingdom which quite honestly was one of the best experiences I have had relating to golf in many a year. In fact in March I am taking 3 friends down to get fittings. I live 2 hours away so not a problem.

To DawgDaddy's comments you will not go wrong on any course as they are all great though the fairways may not have grown out by April. I stayed at the Lodge and the service was fantastic as well as the meals - all top notch.

Enjoy the Masters. If you can get there early stake out a spot with your chair (no one bothers it with respect) and wander around.
